WR/RB Thread

Collins proved himself to be a very good RB and he would have had a 1000 yd season if we went to him earlier. Buck also played a lot better during the 2nd half of the season so, along with Dixon coming back, our RB group is looking pretty solid.

I'd rather not have us draft a RB early just because we have so many other priorities on offense. We need more O-line help, we obviously need better WRs, and we could also use an upgrade at TE. RB is probably the least of our worries on offense right now.

We have more than enough talent, we need to actually use it

Oh no we don't. We don't have a TE to stretch the seam and be a target over the middle or in the red zone for Flacco. Watson can do his part but we definitely would help Joe by bringing a true mismatch in the middle.

Darren Waller, Maxx Williams, Boyle, and Gillmore....we drafted the first 2 players to catch the ball. We tend to use Williams alot for blocking, that is not the reason we drafted him. I have seen enough from Williams to feel like he is the guy we should be utilizing more down the field. We don't. I do not think we need to draft anymore TE. At worst, three of those guys can block their asses off.

I would agree with you on Williams, but he was pretty slow for a TE even before his knee injury. He has great hands and will catch the ball when he's open, but I don't think you'll ever see him be able to stretch the seam.

As for Waller: I don't think he even makes the team next year. He's already been in trouble multiple times and wasn't that effective to begin with. Maybe if they give him one more chance then he'll show something, but I doubt it.

I will second that. Yes Williams was seen as a receiving TE but he just hasn't been able to be that and unlike some other players I don't think it can be attributed to the coaching staff using him the wrong way.

It would be nice to have Dixon and Collins getting 200 carries and 1000 yards. While taking turns blocking. Dixon could probably block with fullback power. And he is a great receiving back that can make plays. More than an outlet back
I agree, Dixon and Collins are a very good tandem and both got a lot of yards after contact. Last year Dixon was 2nd in the league in yac.

A stable of Collins, Dixon, Allen and Woodhead is pretty good as long as Collins or Dixon can follow up on the promise they've shown. Allen is one of the best special teams players on the Ravens. Woodhead, aside from his backfield ability, is possibly the best slot receiver on the team....

What's wrong with Buck. He outperformed Woodhead both in the passing game and as a runner. He ran hard and was good in short yardage. He's always healthy. Why wouldn't you want us to keep Buck as RB3?

I don’t agree with that - woodhead is so much more useful and performed so much better in the passing game this year - bucks a nice complementary big back but I imagine he’ll end up as rb4 next year

Dixon and Collins could form a nice tandem - dixon is nice inside and Collins is electric when he gets outside - both are decent in the passing game too and get serious yac - add to that woodhead’s great ability on 3rd down as a pass blocker/blitz pickup and split wide - and then buck can come in on short yardage or later in the game to wear down opposing linemen and he also has decent hands but he also has the benefit of being a decent special teams player - I’d be shocked if we went out of our way to add another rb and I’d be even more shocked if we didn’t go with 4 rbs heading into the season

Allen is extremely underrated after showing what he did this year and he improved as the year progresses due to OL improvement. This stable looks very good, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them bring a rookie into the fold to compete.

I don't think Allen is in danger of losing his roster spot because of his ST work. He also seemed (to me at least) to be the most balanced back as far as a runner/receiver compared to Collins and Woodhead.

Honestly if a new back is brought in, they're probably competing for Dixon's roster spot or for a returner position.

As long as Dixon remains on the field, he’s a better back than Allen. Look what he did last year and we had no running game last year.

I don't disagree. I like his upside a lot more than Allen's- who wasn't as effective as Dixon in the same situation last year. But I'd imagine Dixon has a shorter leash than anyone else since he doesn't add much ST value and had the suspension.

His suspensions don’t help either.

Yea we need to give Dixon a shot to come back.

I worry about the PED's though... and whether that hard running and ability to break tackles might have been inflated some. But at the very least you have to give him a shot to see if he can do it again.

Williams is much quicker than he looks, he's shown that from time to time. He also seems to do a good job breaking tackles when he has the chance. I honestly feel like the young TE's aren't being used enough.

Dixon was making plays when our OL was horrible and still made them look decent. He may gave Collins a run for his money which will only make them both better. A return to a dual monster running game won't bother me one bit

off topic, but we need to retain Jensen. Our OL sucks when we dont have a center, and while Skura was pretty good Jensen was clearly the nasty on that line.

Him and Yanda side by side will be a thing of beauty.

Watching him run 20 yds down field to push the pile, flattening Kiko after hitting Joe, stuff like that.... tone setter. Other than getting something done with Mosley, Jensen would be my priority.

Wouldnt have any concerns about the run game with that much nasty inside.

i dont see how the ravens let him leave the building

Has Collins done enough if your guys book to justify not drafting a RB early? I’m still not sold, and this RB class coming out is loaded.
Barkley will be gone by our pick, but guice and Love should be there at 16.
2nd round could be someone like chubb or rashaad penny (my personal favorite).
Why do you want to draft a RB with Collins and Allen doing as well as they did this year. Invest in a back up (for 1-2 yrs) QB instead. I don't care if we use a high pick on him because he can learn behind Flacco in 2018 to take over in 2019.
