The Q4 Heroics, the Tackling, and the Season is Over

Bro that kick is terrible. Like not even small mistake that is a legitimately pathetic attempt at kicking the football.

I am damn certain I could have done a better job than that purely from my time playing football/Soccer.

How do you miss that bad.
When I was 10 after the cundiff game my dad and I went to the field to kick a 29 yarder and I made it on my second Try

Also huge to note it wasn't the nutritiously difficult open end of Heinz field to kick into the river swirl

Can’t believe that the Steelers got a leveraging call against Travis jones that shouldn’t have been called that cost us 4 pts last time

And now the Steelers get a non-call on the final play that cost us the game and the season

The way that both of those games went, I would expect nothing else, TBH.

Sad to hear cuz I love him but trust your opinion, I haven't watched tape but just games and short videos on him. Seems like a stone wall in pass game but maybe not a mover / athlete worth a high enough pick. Super interesting this year that the top two tackles both play right side and there is talking of transitioning them to gaurd.

@JoeyFlex5 and i have discussed them all a bit already in the draft threads

i would say the mauigoa talk of moving to guard seems like a slam-dunk to me, the fano transition to guard is more up in the air, i think he's a tackle first, joey thinks he's going to be a significantly better guard than tackle

always a chance that with new information (i.e. more tape-watching) that vega moves up the board but right now, to me he's not worth a first round pick, and definitely not worth a top 15 pick

Small call out cuz it didn't matter but if you watch the kick watch the awarness of Kolar to understand his guy isn't a threat and get a hand on the leaping steeler diving across. Really impressive and I pray we pay him. These are the kinda guys we need. Sucks it didn't matter.

77 too tbh on the play.

pretty sure that's a schematic design not a kolar free-lancing

How fast do we expect Steve to make a decision or confirmation that Harbaugh stays?

A mishit. Not like he just didn’t have the leg. Just didn’t hit it cleanly. I know that’s been the biggest part of the problem in his development.

In short, he was a leg swinger. When they try to make the motion more compact, that changes the plant foot and sends what he’s done his whole life out of whack.

They took a big swing on being able to correct all of this stuff quickly.
I think if you watch the replay you'll see he hit the big ball before the little ball, just like a fat golf shot hit the ground before the ball, and it opened up his angle. Could very well be that his plant foot was too close to the ball or something similar.

If Harbaugh is gone or stays we will know on way or another before the end of this week. Steve doesn’t seem like someone who waits to decide and I feel he would have already decided based on Billick a commend Steve previously made about Harbaugh.

I’m really conflicted. All conclusions seem to be that Monken is gone, and I’d agree he was bad at playcalling this year. I think Orr must go. I just can’t see us firing both coordinators and expecting this team to go far next season.

Gilman and Awuzie were nicked for a lot of the second half too. Was just too much to try to cover.
When we lost Hamilton for the game I knew we were in big trouble defensively. You can't lose the best Safety in the NFL and not expect some big problems.

Wow! I just couldn’t believe I witnessed one more last second fail to end our season. I was in total shock. Loop had not missed one FG from that distance all season. There is some bad juju going on here.

Monken is far from perfect. But If the Ravens fire Monken and keep Orr and Harbaugh I’m going to be so damn angry it’s untrue.

There is no logical reason for Zach Orr to be in a job next season. He is terrible. Absolutely terrible.

There was clear leverage by a Steelers player, what should have been a 15 yard penalty , on the Loop kick not called.

This seems to always happen when we play Pittsburgh.

Ultimately I just dont see how you can look at what happened this season and in good faith keep the status quo.

The team couldn't make basic tackles all year. They more often hit their own teammates than they did the opponent. The defense gave up hige yards to actual scrubs multiple times and continued to blow leads like it was their job.

The offense was atrocious in the redzone. They were terribly inconsistent and put the ball on the ground a million times or dropped passes that fell to the opponent. Constant misuse of personnel like Hopkins and Henry.

STs was bad at every single play they were tasked with.

The team didn't do anything well.

Anyone else feel a huge weight lift off their shoulders? Man I feel so much better knowing this seasons over.

Yeah, this season was like dragging a bag of hammers tied to your nuts. It was like banging a high school crush who still has nice legs but everything else went to shit. It was like 20 lottery tickets that all had the 1st number hit and won nothing.

Put this team in the fucking garage and work on it. This team needs a reload more than a rebuild and I'm done with Harbs.

That’s the weird thing

I think Orr is awful. I also think Monken was bad at calling plays. Replacing both seems weird without replacing the head coach. That’s where I am with it.

I think Harbaugh could not be gone. But then I also don’t think his coordinators are good. Or his positional coaches have some major issues. But making such a wholesale change would likely result in him also leaving if you’re making such drastic changes

Now following up on the team not doing anything well.

Decosta fucked this team before the season even started. He did not make the team better first of all. It was obviously a little worse than 2024. And in the NFL even if you're staying the same, you're getting worse. So the dip in performance isn't even remotely surprising.

Then on top of the team being worse, dude AGAIN did nothing to address the OL or pass rush. The most important position groups outside of QB.
