Coaching Carousel 2026

Seems like the firing was Harbaugh based. Makes more sense than both Monken and Jackson camps have disputed having issues with each other. It feels like that was Harbaugh's attempt to save face, to make his departure appear as collateral damage.

100% the case. Harbaugh's agent has been working overtime on the narrative, for seemingly no reason. He was getting a job either way, and none of the stuff that is coming out is overly damaging to that possibility.

The turnaround isn't even vaguely disputable. We went from allowing 25.3 PPG and 367.9 yards per game through the first 10 weeks, to a mere 15.4 PPG and 261.7 yards for the rest of the year. Doesn't matter who the opponents are. Going from a historically bad start to ranking Top 10 in total defense for the year, 6th in defensive EPA and 6th highest in defensive grades for the entire season is an insane fixup, and it came on the heels of personnel changes. Specifically moving Kyle Hamilton to FS and starting Ar'Darius Washington. Orr was the one coach I preferred gone above the rest, but the credit has to come where its due.
Same thing happened this year, a small turnaround due to bad teams! I see what youre saying and i understand but he did nothing special because if he did, the turn around wouldve continued which it didnt. There is and wasnt no identity for us on defense. Couldnt get any pressure ever. Young coach with no play calling experience, just to early in his coaching career thats all.

Again, not remotely close to a small turnaround. That isn't debatable. We were No.1 in most major categories after making the changes. In that span, we faced the Steelers, Chargers, Eagles, Steelers and Texans. All of them went to the playoffs. And we were miles better in getting to the quarterback last season, finishing 2nd as team in sacks with 2 players in double digits.

I'm watching Anthony Weaver interviews now. As much as I question his performance as a caller in Miami, I'm also intrigued by his leadership. Admittedly did not know about him much as a person prior to this coaching search.

He seems like somebody who'd be able to set a culture of competing. I feel a good bit more at ease about his hat being thrown into the ring.

Iunno.. in the interviews I’ve watched.. He sounds like Zach Orr.

“We just need to be physical! Physical! Physical!”

He seems a wee-bit brighter, no offense to Orr. I was a fan of his explanation of the expectations given the newcomers and the injuries, as well as the fact that the chaos on the sideline made it difficult to get past the previous play. Felt a bit more nuanced than just preaching physicality.

I think he would be a great grab for DC - among other candidates - but I don't want him as the HC. I like the history and connection. I don't like that he'd have to go out and find an OC and DC. That leaves us where we are... stuck in the muck.

I might be naive here, but I think this needs to be a top down, OC as HS hire. Top notch DC's can be had. I don't always feel that's the way with OC's.

What's the win/loss on HC's that were hired as OC's over DC's over the last 3-5 years?

I see it looks like Lamar want Kubiak bad as Head Coach. I believe he will be our next head coach or Minter.

it's a fake article based on a troll tweet

Smh. I could have saved myself five minutes of my life by scrolling down one more post. I was scouring the internet trying to find the episode after reading the article. Idk what people get out of making up fake news. To use the term my kids do “it’s weird” lol
