Coaching Carousel 2026

I think some of that makes sense, but I also don’t know how literally any of us could say what the ceiling or floor is of a candidate. So much of that is unknown to us and that’s why I struggled with assessing someone’s ceiling who we literally do not know.
Understood completely. The FO will know infinitely more than us.

The one point though is, with someone like Weaver, I feel as though you can tell his ceiling is kinda by definition lower than a playcaller's all else held constant.

Man... the amount of John Harbaugh glazing going on is insane. Don't make fun of us for blowing 4th quarter leads, don't make a meme out of it only to turn around and fire the man responsible for letting it keep happening over and over.

Worst in our history is tough to say. Dean Pees, Wink Martindale. He's in or just below that category. If that massive turnaround last year stuck through the beginning of this one, he'd be one of the better recent ones. We did manage to look significantly better since the Chicago game with just 18.3 PPG allowed in 11 games, but we were very much a bend but don't break unit with lack of disruptions and turnovers. I've got no indication so far that Harbaugh would've agreed to part ways with Orr. If anything, his penchant for sticking behind good natured but beleaguered mates was always a flaw of his, so I would've expected him to attempt to retain him.
Mattison was worse than pees and wink, Orr was worse than any of them.

Orr is the worst DC we’ve had this century

Looks like plenty of friction between Monken and Lamar .

Hmmmm I don't know if it's true but if Monken hard coaching style really was a problem with Lamar then it's not something he likely hasn't been around. His college head coach Bobby Petrino has a hard coaching style as well and emphasis on playing with proper technique. I've seen some argue and say Lamar throwing mechanics in college was better than it was in the NFL under Greg Roman whom isn't known for having a hard coaching style .

orr not on on level with wink or peas.. its not even close tbh. It was never a turn around last season, we just played weaker opponents thats all.

The turnaround isn't even vaguely disputable. We went from allowing 25.3 PPG and 367.9 yards per game through the first 10 weeks, to a mere 15.4 PPG and 261.7 yards for the rest of the year. Doesn't matter who the opponents are. Going from a historically bad start to ranking Top 10 in total defense for the year, 6th in defensive EPA and 6th highest in defensive grades for the entire season is an insane fixup, and it came on the heels of personnel changes. Specifically moving Kyle Hamilton to FS and starting Ar'Darius Washington. Orr was the one coach I preferred gone above the rest, but the credit has to come where its due.

Kind of but more Mike shanahan/gary kubiak and the older style west-coast stuff vs the more modern Kyle shanahan/sean Mcvay style offence
Yeah I don’t see a problem there at all.

We have TEs and a high end slot receiver, we have Derrick Henry, we have pat ricard, and a weak OL giving us a need for a moving pocket and a schematic advantage in the run game. Run outside often and build PA off of that.

Adding complexity and more emphasis on downfield passing is the opposite of what I feel we should be looking for.

What their offense did in the earlier baker/chubb days is exactly what I wished we had for Lamar.

According to reports , Harbaugh was fired via phone call.
If true , that’s pretty low class for Biscotti to fire a coach he had for two decades.

I’m glad Harbaugh got fired but have a little class.

I started watching football for the first time in my life in 2008. I have never been a fan of a team; never bought a jersey for a team that John Harbaugh did not coach.

Nah. He was too arrogant in the meeting with Steve prior to the phone call. Did not accept any suggestions on making changes after a disastrous season and showed up like he's been invited to lunch.

Exactly how he ran the team and answered legitimate criticism over the last several years.
