Coaching Carousel 2026

starting to see the lamar character assassinations coming out again

just a reminder, yet again, Lamar doesn't have an agent, Harbs does

the briefs are clearly trying to paint Harbs in a certain way and Lamar's catching strays from those briefs
Not the same of course, but it does remind me of the 2023 offseason pre-extension where he had to hear constant nonsense about Lamar not wanting to play the playoff game, worrying more about a contract, etc.

Not some on field scheme genius but you'll have a hard time finding one of his former players that wouldn't go to war for him
Agree, but he was pretty instrumental in bringing in young assistants for Harbaugh from the college ranks.

I'd like to interview the defensive backs coach from 2023 and he was with the Eagles in 2022. Denard Wilson

If anything, the Bucs under Bowles is one of (if not THE) main reasons why I want to go offensive-minded >> defensive-minded. Sure they had really good OCs in Canales and Coen, but not so much the case this season from my understanding.

I'd rather go in each season feeling confident that our offense is top 10 at worst like I'm sure Rams and 49ers fans feel like if their squads are healthy. We already got an elite franchise QB so you might as well make him happy in a system that's tailored to his strengths.

I hope we at least check out guys like Anthony Campanile and Curt Cignetti. Klint Kubiak interests me but so does Klay as well as Mike LaFleur and Chris Shula.

if you're picking weaver you're almost definitely looking at him having to bring in a DC with a schematic advantage too which is a major disadvantage if you're basing your hire partly on having schematic stability on one side of the ball

exactly...

bowles made two great hires in a row but only got 2 years of good offence out of it and the 3rd hire nearly got him fired (still might)

My guess is Weaver is partially to satisfy the Rooney Rule?

I doubt it’s to be disingenuous because he was a coach here but it’ll be very surprising if he is selected
Probably some combo. They think he deserves to be a head coach and they're going to cast the net and give him a chance to say it should be here, but I also would be surprised if he's a favorite at any point... unless he comes in and blows them away of course

That’s kinda how I saw it. I don’t think we would just bring him in to satisfy the rule but he does satisfy it a did play and coach here. You never know as he could interview fantastically but I really feel we’re looking for something else although I do believe we will want someone who can be a CEO coach even if it’s not right away

They gonna tell him “you probably won’t get the HC gig, but if you jobless.. hit us up. We’ll find a position gig for you.”

Yeah you can survive needing to hire 1 new coordinator every 2 or 3 seasons, much harder when you potentially have to replace both

Giants have always made the most sense to me. They have a pass rusher and they have a good RB and a good QB. Harbaugh can turn them around imho. Outside of him choosing romance and going with his childhood team in the Browns, I see no real great second option at this present moment. I do think maybe Harbaugh is waiting to see the other openings before he decides knowing if a team like NYG really wants him they will wait. Harbaugh is also very familiar with that division so it really does fit for him
