Coaching Carousel 2026

Oweh, Ojabo, Green. That would be three in the last 5 drafts. One of those, Green, started showing signs of development as well and Oweh wasn't that bad.
Green's a rookie and Oweh was a pretty decent pick but I'd like us to draft a bigger power rusher rather than another underwhelming speed rusher.
At least big guys help against the run and and gradually impact the pocket, even when they don't win. Too many times we saw the speed rushers stopped dead and QBs getting all the time they wanted with zero pressure.

In a roundabout way, Harbaugh picking Orr is probably the reason he's gone right now. Not sure this same thing happens if we don't have just a couple of the defensive collapses we did this year.

Yeah I'm not buying that it was Monken that got him axed. Backing Orr most likely set this off and if he was going to run it back with him he deserved it.

OK does that apply to all positions? Because the fanbase, including many on here, killed the FO for not making investments at WR, even though we took a ton of 3rd and 4th rounders for the longest time. You don't get to pick and choose what's considered an "Investment" based on how well the player performs.

As is the case for every position and every team, the likelihood of success of the player being drafted is a downward trajectory arrow from the first round to each subsequent round.

In my opinion, your "premium picks", which I agree is inherently subjective, but I classify as somewhere around the top 100, should be spent on players who boost pass offense or pass defense materially. If you're investing more premium picks (or the same number) at ILB and RB than you are at Corner or interior Pass Rusher, that's no bueno. IF you're going to take a player high at a non-premium position, they better be at the level of Kyle Hamilton, and not at the level of Patrick Queen.
When we got lamar, we drafted andrews that same season.. the following season we picked up boykin and hollywood. Forgot about hayden hurst.. all those guys were drafted in first 3rnds top 100.. duvernay was also drafted in 3rd rnd. Its not like he didnt try, his trying just didnt work out. We dont have steelers or rams eye talent for pass catchers it seems like and its rare that we pick in top 15 to get the top notch wrs.. now that i think about it, i do wonder if harbaugh usually prevented us from taking guys like pickens so maybe he did have a say so on certain things on how the roster was constructed idk

I'm talking pre-EDC taking over with the receivers. During Ozzie's tenure, everybody bitched about how we never made big investments at WR, despite us taking plenty of guys in like the 4th round. So those are either investments or they're not.

I don't have any complaints about how EDC has approached WRs. I have complaints about the amount by which he's cared about ILBs, Safeties and RBs, compared to the amount of investment he's made to Corner or interior pass rushers.

It's also I would say extremely possible that John doesn't get fired at all if Loop makes that kick. Hard to know what happens in the wildcard round, but I think playoffs vs non-playoffs is a big amplification for Steve.

Straight from Lamar’s camp.

That Monken story is BS. Another one of Harb’s PR move after throwing Monken under the bus in-season.

as i said a couple of hours ago, feels like this monken/lamar relationship stuff is coming from harbs agent to deflect/change the narrative on his firing

stubbornness and inflexibility could be a negative trait
protecting and mediating is more of a positive trait

Yea they wouldve waited till after wildcard round to fire him

it's less about power vs speed and more about explosion and moves/counters

the elite and upper echelon guys in the league all have an explosive speed element - if you can't threaten to run the hoop then you're a lot easier for tackles to block you if they're not worried about their outside shoulder

He had a chance to remedy that mistake. And that wasn't the only mistake he carried much longer than necessary. The arrogance wouldn't let him.

Good portion of that is on Bisciotti, too. He should have fired him in '18, after 3 consecutive missed playoffs. He made him feel untouchable.
