i'd find that a bit disappointing but i'd understand it
in terms of investment though, 2 1st round picks at safety in 4 years is a wild allocation of resources and even DB more generally we've taken 3 of the last 4 years (3/5 of our first round picks since 2022)

my personal hope is that he goes ahead of us

i think this could be ripe for a @JoeyFlex5 meltdown - especially if harmon's medicals are dropping him and he's available at 27 and we still took starks...
I don’t think that would be a meltdown. I’d be upset but I hear everywhere that starks is this incredible value at 27 and I guess I’m just not seeing how good he is.

I mean I see what he’s capable of, he has potential to be one of, if not the best coverage safety in the league, I just struggle to project any college safety being that kinda guy at the next level because they are just so rare. The safe bet and projection that you can make is the safety that works well in split safety looks, and I’m not convinced starks is that type, i think he’s gonna get pigeon holed because he’s not a down low kinda safety, and thats a huge ask, and I’ve seen enough mental lapses from his tape to genuinely worry about this projection.

But hey, the pros know best right?

Also, if Harmon is there at 27 I feel like they’re taking Harmon. Wasn’t it said by one of the board sources that they’re high on Harmon and not expecting him to be available?

I was told they love Harmon but never heard he was "the guy"
Okay. I would think if it’s between the 2 of them that Harmon would be BPA and the pick. Seems like starks is “their guy” going into the draft because barring a faller he’s their favorite, but Harmon would have to be one of the fallers to disrupt that I’d think.

I’d think Simmons, Harmon, and ezeiruaku would be considered surprises if still available at 27 and would disrupt the starks train

On paper it can sound crazy, but Hamilton isn't exactly a traditional safety. He can play that role well, but he's best as a hybrid nickel/LB playing closer to the line. Starks fills a very different role, and lets Hamilton as well as our physical corners play to their strengths.

Is Starks head and shoulders above Emmanwori?
Yes. Starks is much quicker to trigger, and plays the ball better. Also Starks seems more agile, capable of changing directions better to stick to a WR. Emmanwori has upside as a true center fielder, but I think teams aren't as high on him as the media is. I personally would rank a couple safeties over him.

Just found out yesterday Oluwafemi Oladejo lives in the apartment right next to mine yesterday. I had met him in the elevator before and knew he played football but didn't know he was a prospect. Seemed like a nice guy; he asked me about my Washington shirt and said he played up there once. His apartment hosts bible study too and he's anti substance.
He told my roommate yesterday he's moving out for the draft! Pretty cool

Isn’t it reported the ravens are very interested in oladejo? That’s a harbaugh guy if I ever heard of one

Might be a great guy but in pros he'll be just another almost sack pass rusher.

I don't think the Ravens have anyone on the team that can make this kind of interception. I'm genuinely rooting for Starks to be our pick.

I’m not dead against starks, but try not to let one play sell you on a whole prospect. Watch his playoff game vs Texas this year, it looked like 2024 Marcus Williams. He’s got big potential but he’s not a lock by any means

Zriebec predicted Tyler Booker at 27 which would make me happy. A massive, powerful Guard with good pass protection who moves people in the run game would be great. It would give us 4 really solid starters while Voorhees and Faalele battle it out for the 5th spot.

He's a terrible athlete which doesn't fit great with the zone runs we've been moving to, but we've seen people like Zeitler and Boseman pulling and moving for us in the run game effectively and, for me, a solid pocket is more important. With Lamar and Henry, the run game is always going to be top 5 anyway and having someone who can move people off the line is never a bad thing.

I like the idea of a huge guy between Stanley and Linderbaum, because neither one is particulary powerful but they're both great movers, so there's a good fit of strengths and weaknesses.
