2025 Offseason Thread

i love that spencer's reply is that they just need a bit of depth

no they need a massive injection of talent... not only for this year but also looking forwards to 2026 and beyond... the only edge rushers under contract beyond 2025 are Tavius Robinson and Adisa Isaac

so it's a bad situation, even if you think it's a decent group right now

but it's a horrible group right now... not even sure that there's many teams with a worse group - commanders, bears, falcons, saints, panthers, cardinals... maybe the patriots

either way we're looking at being somewhere in the bottom quarter of the NFL in terms of personnel at that position

need to make more picks at the position - only swings we've taken at the position in the first 2 rounds in the last 10 years outside of oweh and ojabo were bowser and correa

we took a shot with oweh, time to take another shot at another freak (or at least someone with a dominant trait... could be power or burst or hands but they've got to have something to hang their hat on) - i dont love the freaks that are being touted in this class, but i would not be surprised if they make a big bet on Nic Scourton or Shemar Stewart or Mykel Williams and swing for the fences early and double dip on a second guy later - i dont love any of those 3 particularly but i wouldnt be shocked if the ravens talk themselves into one of them (especially williams who was buried in georgia's scheme just like most of the other studs they've had in the front 7 the last few years... most of whom have been studs in the pros)

Man I kinda hate all 3 of those guys lol. I like Kyle kennard and Landon Jackson if we could grab one in round 2. This edge class seems to be deep on big bodied run stuffer types, after Mike green there’s a SHARP drop off in terms of pass rush quality and projectable traits.

i also am not a big fan of what those guys put on tape but feels like the kind of guys we might take a bet on from a traits perspective

i do like scourton

my worry with kennard is that he can sometimes get thrown around in the run game and that he struggles to flatten the edge on outside rushes

landon jackson is fun but might be more of a DE

but i've got a distinct top 3 EDGE guys and then a bunch of questions afterwards
 
So all the Tucker stuff came out pretty hard, now radio silence. Is it just a matter of letting the legal stuff work itself out or is there more info to come? Any updates?

Big criticism there of course is not going up to get the guy you want. A patient approach isn't always wrong, but it isn't always right either.

Ok, but the pass rush efficiency #'s were similar in '23 and it was a historic DVOA defense. How are always tops in DVOA, tops in sacks and so low in pass rush efficiency? It almost seems by design.

Yes. They may wait until June though pending what their plans are for designating other guys as J1 cuts. It’s easier to hold Tucker until then because of the structure.
