2025 Offseason Thread

With the dust having settled, Corey Bullock could very well be our best interior reserve lineman. Throughout the three games, I thought he was stout as a pass protector and rarely succumbed to power. In the running game, he was a super effective combo blocker, with the ability to close the distance to the linebacker without overrunning the angle. He was a solid puller, but that's where he could use a little polish. There were times when he'd be beaten to the spot by his RB, effectively negating the point of his presence. There were also plays wherein he'd get into position, latch onto the target and perhaps let them go a shade too early. In most cases, they wouldn't be the first involved on the ball carrier, so this could be nit picking. Per PFF, both him and Andrew Vorhees finished with an 88.7 graded on zone blocked runs. Personally, I consider switching from Guard to Center one of the most overlooked positional changes in its difficulty. I'm hoping Vorhees' stellar preseason continues into becoming our LG of the future. But if Bullock ever needs his number called elsewhere, I believe he could be a solid starter.

The highlight package for Bullock was a little more difficult to put together because the end results of the play would sometimes betray the tape. For example, it's 1st and goal from the 3 yard line against Washington. Bullock executes a quality combo block with LG Ben Cleveland, both starting on NT Eddie Goldman, Cleveland remaining on Goldman and Bullock moving to MLB Ale Kaho. There's a temporary hole in the weakside B-gap.

But LT Carson Vinson is beat across his face by the 4i-T Carl Davis Jr., WR LaJohntay Wester doesn't get enough of SS Robert McDaniel, and D'Ernest Johnson now has to bounce the play all the way to the pylon. As the play continues, Bullock drives Kaho onto the logo in the end zone, but then has to let him go to avoid a holding penalty. It's hard to put it on the reel because the failure of the play, but the block itself is worth praising.

Even on the ones that did work, the 3rd and 1 against the Cowboys. It's within the reel at the 1:07 mark from the end zone view. Bullock executes a reach block against the 1-T Perrion Winfrey, and he is doubled out of the play by him and Vorhees. RG Daniel Faalele pulls but lowers his head prematurely and allows SLB Marist Liufau to trip up Rasheen Ali. It still results in a 1st down. But if Liufau doesn't get there, it's Ali in a one on one against the FS Markquese Bell, who's over 10 yards away from when the tackle is made. It's the difference between the 4 yard gain and a potential 40. Plays like these make it particularly tricky to come up with an actual reel for a lineman that doesn't seem like it can only pick from runts. Although at least the individual pluses can thankfully still be noted.

I remember seeing a tweet about how he was still run blocking his ass off with a tear down his eye when Boston College was losing or something to that effect. Though I included Addison in my list (Brother @JAAM can attest to it), Zay was my #1 #SIIE that year for that reason. Had a feeling that he and Lamar would do wonders together. Lo and behold......
Zay and JSN were my top WRs that year but I liked Addison also.

What steve ballmer and kawhi did is something ive always wondered about lol. They just got caught to easy. Its better ways to make it seem legit
