What if the scrambling concern future is now? Watching Lamar Jackson this year, even from the first game, he's looked a step slow. Against the Bill's he had 70 rushing yards. That was his high water mark for the year. The Chiefs game was his second most rushing yards with 48 and he went out of the game injured while running. He's got 6500 career yards running. This year his running production was down substantially. That said, he's a better thrower now than he ever was. He throws a better ball now, though his completion percentage did drop this year. Michael Vick wasn't the same come 29 years old. There's a Sports Illustrated story out about Jackson's game, injuries and prognosis. He's taken a lot of lower body and leg trauma and missed a good deal of time. Harbaugh says he's out with a back contusion. What is a "back contusion". I thought a contusion was a bruise. I just think the future is now and Lamar Jackson, like he has done this year, must now be more of a drop back passer. We need a change in coaching for this. A quarterback whisperer. An offensive coach from this era. A head coach from this era. A new General Manager that focuses on the modern game. It would be a little painful, but we've spun our wheels when we should have won and this season is the most painful in this period.
From my understanding, what made McDonald effective is his ability to teach his methods to the players. That's what I want from my next HC. Saleh is definitely in that class, but I don't know about Kubiak.
And it's for reasons like this is why I hope Biscotti and co. take their time on their search (assuming they do what needs to be done atp) for the next HC: it's one thing for a coach to be a leader of men, but it's another thing to be a teacher of the game too.it was the way he taught pressures that was pretty special
taught the pressure to everyone (regardless of position) based on alignment which did 2 things
1: it allowed the defence to be look very different by aligning personnel all over the place without actually having to run super complex stuff
2: it simplified the playcalls for players because you just have to call a play and the pressure and the players understand their role based on their alignment etc.
it's more complex than that but that's basically how it was explained to me
Someone asked him in his presser about his job today. That was a funny question and response. It may have been Jeff, I can’t remember. His answer was more along the lines of that you don’t ever have a job you just do a job until you don’t anymore and you’re always showing what you can do for the next job.I never realised the Harbaugh situation was so serious until I saw that, shockingly, Jeff Zriebec had tweeted something critical about him. Making that the first time he has ever been even mildly critical of any aspect of the Ravens. It must be close to the end.
The Eagles sacked Peterson pretty soon after a SB and New England moved off Belichick, who won his last Superbowl 7 years after Harbaugh won his. It's time for a changeThe tricky thing about moving on from Harbaugh is the expectations of wanting more than what you already have seen. Ravens have won alot of games under John Harbaugh, been to a AFC championship(First one in baltimore at that), fans have seen historic defense , and historic offense . Lamar Jackson arrival has definitely bought some more exciting years compared to the years when Joe Flacco was the starter. With that being said if the ravens did decide to move on from Harbaugh and the new coach brings exciting wins then that wouldn't necessarily be something as fans we haven seen already . If the ravens offense hired a offensive guru that bought fought a historic offense that leads Lamar to MVP that also wouldn't be something we haven't already seen. If anything the next head coach would have to strongly convince the owner and general manager that he is the guy to take the team to the promise land/super bowl because they simply seen it all already. That in it self is a tough situation and likely big shoe to fill but whatever happens happens
Not sure about that. Check Lamar's rushing statistics for the year. This is the opportune time to readdress the coaching tree for the inevitable future, whether it's here now or is yet to arrive. Theres lots of getting ready to do.Almost like he got injured in the first game of the year and was never the same again...
we also saw him get his mobility back the last few weeks and started to look more like the "old" lamar
not that he wont slow down in the future but there's no signs that that's now

Ok I can sell myself on Jesse Minters IF he has a good offensive staff
the only downside (for me) of Jesse Minter being the next guy, if that's the case
is it feels like you got the Mike Macdonald-lite - which is always going to feel rough when you had the real deal in-house already
also as a young DC he's going to have to be really intentional about how he builds an offensive staff because he doesn't have a ton of NFL experience or contacts i guess
but of the guys available, he does feel like the only one who definitely has a schematic advantage that he brings to the table - just unfortunate it's on the defensive side of the ball
I'd prefer a cleaner break from Harbaugh clan.
Saleh + Kubiak's brother seems nice combo to me. Build trenches for them, we go far.the top options at coordinator right now are minter on defence and kubiak on offence
the NFL is so nepotistic that you'll never get that clean of a break lol
Yeah I think the stars are aligning for Dazed & Confused Harbs to head back to Michigan . Hopefully !I really think the Michigan turmoil might make JH's firing more likely. He'd ship outta here and slip right into Michigan. Sadly, the two guys I thought would have been great here are under long term contracts. Payton and McDonald. I'm not really enthusiastic about any of the names being mentioned. Very meh.
So a) I'd expect both to get HC gigs this offseason and b) Kubiak is already an OC, so I don't see why he'd want to leave SEA for a lateral move or that SEA would even allow him to do it.Saleh + Kubiak's brother seems nice combo to me. Build trenches for them, we go far.
