I know that Brian Billick was trying to make positives out of Mallett's play in this last preseason game, but damn he was just flat out bad.Agreed on all points. Mallett is less than inspiring, even if he does play "winning football."

The difference is one went thru the proper channels to stage a protest while the other jammed it right in the NFL's face.
It's a double standard certainly.
The distinction however may reside not in the expression of free speech but in the forum of expression.
The NFL serves as a release, if only for a few hours from having to consider any social ills or political motivation.
The intrude on what we perceive as "our time" away from....stuff...is what is found irksome.
He's hands down better than two and some would argue even Flacco. So if Aaron Rodgers was released today would you have the same mindset of we don't need a QB? Or would you try and make him a Raven with already having three QB's on your roster? It's the quality not quantity.wut? The Ravens don't need a QB. Period. They have three on the roster now and will be cutting one prior to starting the season.
when that many coaches throw you aside, and given how poor he's looked in limited showings i think there's definitely been enough time either wayI'm not sure how Mallet is being judged as being "terrible". Just how many regular season NFL games has he played? I'm not saying he doesn't suck, but I am saying that there's hardly been an ample time period,to tell one way or the other.

I think I have been clear about kaepernick's having every right to voice his opinion where he might see fit. I'm not sure how that is muddled in any way.ok then - but if you want to completely depoliticise and escape in football for however many hours, then the national anthem needs to go because what about those people who watch football outside america, and the ads need to go because they have agendas that are trying to sell you stuff, and politicians should be banned from attending and no pre-game memorials or anything should take place...
of course football cant be separate from the real world when the people that play it and coach it and watch it are all part of a real world where stuff happens
its like saying writers and directors shouldnt put politics into their films... why shouldnt he use his platform?
and like others have mentioned, he didnt actively force people to make it into a deal, it was a personal protest albeit with obvious outwards intentions but until people mentioned it and noticed it and called him on it there was no issue
One more thing that sometimes gets lost in this discussion is that Kaepernick hasn't been very good for the past few years. He's a high quality back up who should be on a team, but he's not a starter anymore and wouldn't threaten Flacco's job. Even last year when Joe wasn't very good he was clearly better than Colin.
You're right, the right to free speech is the right to free speech. Seems to me though you are just using the opinions of "people" that fit your agenda. I think you know there are just as many, if not more "people" that are appalled by the VA protests.
Do you think any NFL team would hire the guy that organized the Charlottesville protests as their events coordinator?
Being honest, if we are in the position where we should even consider signing KAP, Aka Flacco will miss multiple games, I would much rather tank than put up a 6-10, to bad too matter but too good to get a nice pick.

Imo, McCown's nickname should be Mr. Get us to 5 wins so we can tank but not bad enough where we all don't get fired. Think it is too long?If we trade for Josh McCown then I would say we are purposley tanking.
But you rather Flacco 200 yards a game plus 2 or 3 turnovers. That makes all the sense. Misleading...only misleading number about Flacco is his pay. Do you know the last four years he's 2nd behind Wentz in the worst touchdown/interception ratio. 1. Went, 2. Flacco, 3. Teddy Bridewater , 4. Blake Bottles. Look at this company! Don't worry, I'll never argue with you.All I ever see is Kap threw 16tds and 4 picks. Those stats are the most misleading stats I've seen in a while. He scored nearly every single point in garage time. I remember the 49ers vs Falcons game where Kap made the game impossible to win within the first 10 minutes. He is an awful qb. If others want to use stats, I will too. What about his 180 yards averaged per game? Please, do not even argue with me to have him on the team unless you SAW HIM PLAY A FULL GAME LAST YEAR. Is he better than Mallet, yes most likely but I would much rather go with Woodrum and fail go 5-11 with Kap.
200 ypg plus 2 to 3 turnovers per game isn't accurate as well. He did have over 4K yards last year. Yes I'm aware he had the most attempts of any qb last season, but that's also not the point I'm trying to make. But you rather Flacco 200 yards a game plus 2 or 3 turnovers. That makes all the sense.
