‘Wink’ is the New Defensive Coordinator

My hope is that whoever we get (I don't really know how all those guys work) we can unleash some interior pressure. I know Fangio is really good at it which makes him my favourite but I wouldn't mind Pagano or Wink if they can do that as well. I'm not sure Del Rio would be a good fit here.

Checklist for our future D-coordinator:

- Generate more pass rush
- Stop blowing 4th quarter leads
- Don't build your defense around one player especially when that player WILL get hurt at some point
- Do not let Brandon Carr go one-on-one against any WR1

Fangio would be ideal. Eddie Jackson, Amos and Fuller were all put in positions to succeed. No stupid stuff a la Pees and they all improved.
He knows how to scheme up pressure packages. Hicks excelled in his scheme as a 3-4 end.

That's also why I like Fangio as our next DC. I'd be super excited if we get him.

Isn't he? I thought he was given how everyone, media included assumed he was.
As of now, Fox is out and nobody else. They are interviewing offense guys for HC job. It would make sense for both McDaniels or Shurmur to keep him as a DC. Fangio might get an interview, too, according to reports.

I think media is just getting ahead of itself and assuming that any new hc will bring his own coordinators with them if theyre an offensive mind and fangio probably won’t want to stay if the HC is a defensive mind

He also might himself get a HC job

I would be highly, highly, highly disappointed if the Ravens didn't give serious consideration to Steve Spagnola, Vic Fangio, Teryl Austin, and Chuck Pagano. All have worked under Harbaugh before, too.

and use the players to their strength, ie TWill on obvious 3rd down passing situations. Hell, how about using both Bowser and TWill more.

my list includes pagano, spagnuolo, austin, del rio, if fangio and lewis become available than include them as well. this team has too much talent on defense to fail and blow leads in the 4th qtr. harbs knows he will be fired if he misses the playoffs next year so i hope he takes isnt foolish enough to promote martindale without interviewing other candidates. same goes for oc as well. why does the offense always start off slow. enough is enough

true, spags did a great job with the db's in 2014, even with all the injuries we had in the secondary. Of course their is only so much you can do. When was Fangio with the Ravens.

2006-2009, I believe, for Fangio, and there's the obvious Harbaugh connection. I think he'd be a huge addition.

I know TWill gets a love fest around here, but he got washed out of many, many plays when I watched him.

Just because I’m very personally invested in his growth because of how highly I rated him on my board, I might at some point this offseason go back and see if I can watch every snap and see what I liked/disliked and whether after all that I still feel like my gripe was still about his usage or whether it was disappointing progression by Timmy (or whether he just wasn’t ready yet)

Please do! Your analysis posts are good stuff.

It was probably a combination of all those things. He definitely wasn't used properly at times, but he also didn't progress enough in the coaches' eyes to get more playing time either. That being said, he did show flashes of potential.

IMO prepared to be disappointed because I get this gut feeling that the hiring of Martindale is inevitable.
