The Defense, the Special Teams, and the Ugly: Week 9 Edition

totally depends.

if he is the hot read then you are right.

if he is the check down then you are wrong.

if the QB is predetermined then you are right.

Maybe the TE is the only one worth trusting for the QB or the TE is the only one he is on the same page with.

pretty much a guessing game tbh.

if its the QB then well no OC is going to solve it though.

quite frankly i would clean the house with pretty much all coaches sans our ST coach.

Oh yea... Jerry can stay. ST is the stuffed crust of this shit pizza team we're stuck cheering for.

That's not how contracts work @Deebo813

He's been hot fucking garbage since the deal minus one year with a miracle worker at OC. He's just as much to blame as these coaches/FO everyone love to throw under the bus. Its not like the injury made Flacco bad in 15 in case people don't remember.

Fuck Harbaugh.
Fuck Marty.
Fuck Pees.
Fuck Flacco.
Fuck Perriman. #blessed

Poe... you're cool

And fuck Ozzie if the focus isn't on offense this offseason.

if you're still giving ozze a pass, you're not gonna fix the problem.
Clean them out

Got it, we agree then. From what I've seen it was totally predetermined throws and it's what's driving me nuts. I don't think Flacco is a great QB by any stretch but he has his moments and you have to play to his strengthes. I don't think we need to fire a lot of guys, we just need to have a guy who wants to use the play action and stick to it. We run the ball well, Flacco is at his best in this situation, so why try anything else and force him to be someone he isn't?

Maybe he should be HC. His players are paying attention to detail, perhaps he would ask the same of other coaches, too rather than having to yell at idiots to hurry up with the snap because we're down 2 scores and there's less than 2 minutes to go? Or to play their fucking assignment on 3rd and 3 in the red zone instead of falling for high-school type bait?

This.

Everyone knows the offense stinks.

This was the secons worst redzone team in the league. Bammm we give them 3 tds.

The defense played relatively well. But when the NEEEEEEEDDDDD a stop they never seem to get it
blame flacco. he sucks!!

I mean that kind of is the problem. We had this discussion before when they failed massively in the 4th didn't we? Why do you think that is? It is a pattern we've had since Pees came here and oddly, it was the complaint that drove him out of NE. Hmmm...interesting.

Again with the "blame" word. They are a fucking team. The TEAM lost. The defense had their hand in it just like Koch and his punt, Flacco and his INT that was solely on him, Perriman and his 3rd down drop and Perriman and his fucking pop ups.
The issue is, yeah, the TEAM lost, but some units are more responsible than others.

I believe it was 2008 when the Chargers had the first ranked defense and offense, but finished 8-8 and failed to make the playoffs because their special teams were so abysmal. Would we look at it and go, "Yeah, it's a team wide problem and we really need to work on the entire team." No, we'd look at the special teams.

If the Ravens lost 100-99 and scored a TD on every single drive, would we say it was a team lost and the offense had a hand in it? No, we'd look entirely at the defense.

For me, it really sucks with these type of games because the offense does nothing for three and a half quarters and the defense gives them life with a turnover and the offense wakes up a little and makes it close before the defense slips up one time and we get upset at the defense for blowing the offense's chance.

Why are we even in this position? The Eagles allowed two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but no one actually cares because they were winning 44-9 prior to the first touchdown. Must be nice when your team can allow a touchdown and it be no big deal, but that requires an offense to help put the team in that position.

Flacco used to give a fuck - that's why Cam got fired. He just couldn't care less any longer in his lonely corner of the bench.

Give up a 4th or 5th to the browns and flacco for them tk handle that big ass contract and boom problem solved
You really need to understand how contracts work. We are still on the hook for all the guaranteed money in the contract.

Deflection. The point is you never hold the defense accountable for what they do. It is not about placing a loss on the defense, but acknowledging their piss poor plays at critical times as well. Something you never do.

And also, acknowledging this is NOT an anomaly. It is quite common.

Oh yes, they had a let down, but the offense should take the majority of the blame.

If I do have to agree with something, this offense really isn't suited towards Joe. I'm well aware that Kubiak runs a WCO, but he, being the offensive genius that he is, knows how to maximize a QB's strengths. It was evident when he was here. Kubiak ran a significant amount of bootlegs, and went deep from time to time.

Flacco's a part of the problem. But I still think he can ultimately turn it around. He's flashed it at times this season, so I think he's still got it(I mean, Carson Palmer had a career turnaround. Why not Joe?). We're stuck with Joe.. Whether you like it or not. Maximize it. Build an offense where he thrives. Kubiak knows how to do that. Go get him FFS.

I added that after. It's not deflection; it's acknowledging that the defense can play incredibly well up until the very end mess up once and we put it on the same level as an offense that does absolutely nothing until the last 7:30.

More deflection. It is only on the same level because it is not an anomaly. It happens more often than it should. With the offense playing as poorly as they are this season, it has actually already happened twice this season. That means it is an issue.

Pretty sure Joe views it the way most view their jobs. I'm sure more was expected of him when he stated he would lead this team.
