The Defense, the Special Teams, and the Ugly: Week 9 Edition

No it isn't the same thing because those 2 TDs had no affect on the game at all. Our defense, on the other hand, chooses their meltdowns with the game on the line.

Sure that is how it should work. No one is arguing that nor using that blame word. Only YOU. You have some need to say blame the offense and completely ignore the defense's failings. They aren't all that and they should be with the talent that is there. That points only one place.
That is my point- the offense put the defense in such a position that a couple touchdowns don't matter.

It's really sad because it was the defense that put the offense in a position to have meaningful points in the first place and they'll get the blame.

If Mariota doesn't throw that pick, it probably is just a flat out loss for the team and doesn't come down to that final drive, but because the defense gets an interception, the score pulls in closer.

Yeah seriously.

I know people are like "fire Pees". Offense is clearly the bigger problem. It starts with Joe. He's not a fit for this offense at all, is making poor decisions, and has lost touch.
Give me Gary Kubiak and an off-season dedicated to offensive spending and this team probably turns it around next season. Defense was dissapointing on the final drive, but I can't put this loss on them... At all. Shitty coaching decisions, one bad punt, and overall shitty offense take the cake for me.
I don't know what it is with them in the 4th QTR but it's been a problem for a long time now. Seriously, it's a big issue for this defense. Outside of that last drive, and the first, they played a really good game.

But what he said was deflecting? Lol.. so I'm sure the defense is happy keeping a game close with an inept offense who only decides to play half a quarter. So by your standards they should be allowed to shit the bed for a drive... cause they're not happy and what not.

Also, me saying this doesn't mean they are playing up to par either.
One gets everything they need to do their job and one does not. Not saying he's right. Not even saying it is intentional. I'm sure it isn't intentional to be honest. Even in the scenario I gave, I don't think you'd intentionally not do your job but it makes it difficult to do it properly.

The defense gets anything they need so they should do their job. Now, if a turnover or a garbage punt gives the other team a short field, then they get cut some slack but that isn't what happened. And by deduction, all the more reason they should have been happy and done their job even better right? Because the offense actually got into the end zone. So yeah, your trying to make one related to the other does not work.

Could be a lack of in game adjustments. Other teams do progressively (well, should) make changes throughout the four quarters of the games.

I really think after this season we need to look for a new head coach and staff. Maybe Ozzie retires .

I just see no other way. We need to find Joe’s successor , more offensive line help ( horrific today at times)
and some playmakers overall .

Yeah, he should have just run down the field and janded the ball to Perriman. What was he thinking?
I agree there were many drops and the oline isn’t good, but Flacco has to take some of the blame. That ball shouldn’t have been thrown in other way into triple coverage.

Kubiak's system really worked well for Flacco don't know why Harbaugh wasn't able to keep it going tbh
Kubiak was actually going to stay and "build a foundation" with us. Then, Elway had a vacancy for the HC gig and Kubiak basically said "Y'all fellas be good."

So, this will be a nitpicky kinda comment, but PFF credited Jimmy Smith with the opening reception to Reshard Matthews. That was very clearly a zone coverage without seeing the play over, I'd guess Cover 2 based on where Jimmy sat), but Jimmy very clearly passes the receiver off to the inside and then very clear keeps his eyes inside on the quarterback and makes no attempt to follow the receiver.

Come on, PFF. Don't do my boy dirty and drop him to second in the NFL in passer rating.
You know what they say, "First is the worst, second is the best."

I'm mad at myself for getting mad during these games. I knew how this season was going to go but those damn first 2 games had to give me hope.

I really think Perriman had a chance, ball hit him in his hands and if he came away with that we would have talked about how great of a throw that was. I think Perriman has a glaring problem with letting defenders make a play on the ball.

I honestly was not mad about the INT, we need to get the deep passing game involved badly and taking shots deep is always a risk because it's easy to turn it over there but our offense was going to hit a complete wall if we kept playing the short yardage game.

The 2nd INT was inexcusable and completely on Joe.

It's a double standard. Offense can be inept for almost the entire game and that's the same as the defense being inept for a singular drive.

its true our defense played an overall good game and a great game last time.
the titans played very close to the vest. they didn't push it because they didn't have to. when they chose to push it they pushed it easily.
the dolphins game means nothing and its tiring hearing how great this D is. weddle caught a severely overthrown ball. otherwise he and Jefferson sucked.
jimmy smith played his usual solid game.
our coaching staff once again played the worst ball of all.

perriman's route took him into thick coverage. he was not open. a guy like boldin would have elevated and taken advantage of the geometry in that equation. Not perriman. he's like torrey smith......."NEVER LEAVE YOUR FEET"

It is when it essentially ends the game. Yes. It is not a new issue either, it is not a one time deal. If that were the case, then you'd be correct. This has been ongoing for years.

No different than the double standard of giving the defense a pass for one injury and railing on the offense when essentially all the starters are injured.

He’s way worse than Torrey Smith
