I’ve only just realised jordan Matthews is still hanging around on the market... surely his price tag must be around the same or lower than grant or Torrey last year - that’s gotta be something we might be interested in...

Zrebiec reported that we had a chance to acquire him in the Jernigan deal last year and declined, so not sure there's much interest in him. Hard to blame them with the injuries and drops.

Who knows how his knee and ankle are looking.
yeah i figured we had little interest but it seems like his number is getting cheaper by the day - he's certainly better (when healthy) than a lot we've had before and we dont have a predominant slot receiver on the roster
i was only spitballing because i imagine his contract would be dirt cheap at this point (and his history of production is a lot larger than many other receivers who just got major paydays)
I think at this point, we're playing the comp pick game, so that alone probably rules out Matthews until that deadline after the draft (can't remember the date). Really not much out there potentially worth spurning a comp pick for, since only Jensen has signed elsewhere so far.
NE might be waiting on a same deadline to sign Howard.yeah i forgot about that - and we really need some of our other guys to leave so that we actually get that comp pick for jensen

Yep. Pretty much 2 of those dominos absolutely have to fall before I think we even consider dipping back into the UFA market. I mean, you really only have Wallace, Howard, and maybe Campanaro that will factor into that equation. Howard is the only one who seems to have a true market right now according to reports, but I have a hard time believing that to be the case because I think he would have been signed by now if the market was as strong as reported.
On the other hand, if their markets stay cold, maybe we just say fuck it and go ham on UFAs that we normally wouldn't because we're not in line for anything right now anyways.
He'll garner nothing atm. None of our free agents are signed and we signed john Brown. Straight cancel, 1 v 1it's a lot less important given that jensen looks to be a 4th rounder rather than a 3rd anyway

I'm somewhat glad we're not on the list because I got a feeling that Ozzie wouldn't draft a WR until the 5th round if we signed him.NFL Update @MySportsUpdate
Allen Hurns says about 10 teams have reached out to his reps including the Jets, Bears, Bills, Saints, Texans, Raiders and Panthers. His first visit will be tomorrow with the #Jets.

I really think that hurns is a guy with a lot of potential. I also think he's a guy that is sick of being in crowded wide receiver corps. So I doubt he would want to come here because of Crabtree, Brown, and probably a high draft pick. Also Joe Flacco... On another note, I really think Marcedes Lewis could be an upgrade.
Oh I totally agree! Don't get me wrong, I see how what I said was a little misleading. I definitely do not think we're a crowded group. What I do think however is that I think hurns thinks he's the guy. I think he wants to be the big signing and the team's number one. Not saying that can't happen here, but I feel like he probably would already feel diluted by Crabtree and Brown. As far as a crowded wide receiver corps goes, were likely in the bottom tier in the league. I don't think it gets much less crowded than ours lol. With that said I do like the additions we've made but brown and crab aren't the same WR as hurns
and a heavy market he definitely has. Supposedly 10 teams have been in contact with his agent.Idk, he could have a heavy market. Albert Wilson got 3YRs for 27M, I don’t see how Hurns doesn’t sniff that.
Indeed. The point of this offseason is to build for the post-Flacco era. Continuing to sign low-level FAs will not accomplish this. Besides, John Brown is a big-ass question mark with his injury history. Also, we have one of the worst injury bugs in the league. We CAN NOT afford to be complacent this time around. This is another reason. If we get another wr, I'd prefer through trade which would indicate some tilype of commitment. I don't want some wr we'll just discard at the end of the season. We need some type of continuity that the team claims to want, other than when referring to the shitty staff they decide to keep around.
On tip, what you just said. I feel like if we did get him that would be an excuse not to address the position.
