2018 Free Agency

Just did some research and it turns out Ebron has dropped a ton of passes in detroit lol. See video above. Your right id rather have Gesicki but can we really rely on a rookie TE. Most dont come in and contribute imediately
Question: Look ahead in 4 years..

This offseason is about more than instant production. If Flacco stinks up the joint, then he's done here. Let's actually build up a Skelton around the fucking QB, whether it be Flacco or a new guy and let him grow in an ideal situation. This is a big offseason for Ozzie for more than just this reason. TEs may take awhile to develop, a year or two, but there isn't a better BFF for a rookie than a TE who can get open on third down.

And yes. I don't think he'd come in and dominate but a rookie could get the job done here.

And that would work for sure, just like it did with Maxx?
And Ebron with all of his inconstancies would? He's not a very good player dude, Lions let him go for a reason.

We're better off in the long run dodging this bullet. Trust me. Last thing this roster needs is somoene else with historically unreliable hands

Last two seasons he's been solid. As rmw10 said - only 3 dropped passes in 2017.

his hands are not bad now - they were awful earlier in his career - the lions let him go because they didnt want to pay him 8.25m - but there's also a reason they picked up his 5th year option in the first place

im not saying he's coming in to fix this offence but if he comes in at reasonable value on a 1-2 year deal would you really have a problem with that? we currently have no tight ends on the roster except for boyle, maxx and waller, mayle - 2 of whom are block first tight ends and the 3rd hasnt been seen on the field for over a year and has never been a good player either outside of special teams (which the 4th is also on the roster for)...

Oh good Two solid seasons for a bust. Let’s get him.

No thanks. We’re better off without this guy. He’s improved sure but he’s not gonna come in and be this big time contributor. This isn’t a player who played with a crappy QB and struggled for that reason. He’s mediocre at best. I’d rather get a rookie and save some money and get another WR in FA if we are being honest or I’d rather pick up a defensive player or olinemen. You don’t need a good TE to have a good offense(see Falcons two years ago) and you don’t need one to be a championship team either.

Yup. I wouldn’t like that at all. There’s better ways to potentially spend that money and we honestly have other pressing needs that should addressed here. A rookie in the first three rounds at TE would have more upside than Ebron and be a fraction of the cost. I’d rather take a chance on that.

Spend the money elsewhere

So, he was bad in first 2, then improved in 3rd and 4th season and that's your definition of a bust?
OK.

Mediocre Tight end drafted in the top 10... taken ahead of Odell Beckham Jr, taylor Lewan, Aaron Donald, CJ. Mosley.

Maybe not an outright bust but certainly a gargantuan disappointment
