The WR Thread

Didn't u just call me out for overdrafting moore in 2nd now your defending yourself after someone says your overdrafting someone?

I actually agree with you. Fuck waiting for value. Get good players... well players you think will be good.
I definitely wouldn’t be upset with DJ Moore in the 2nd, of course it really depends on who is available at that point, but if he’s the best off player available than that’s cool.

worh noting that I don't actually think Moore is a good pick in the 2nd, not due to media influence but because he's incredibly raw and a project, and something we definitely don't do well is develop WRs
At the same time it's not like we've given Engram a lot to work with.

DJ Moore is the real deal. I've just started watching film on all the wideout but for me he is with little doubt a top tier guy in this draft.

There seems to be limited film so I'm waiting on some more in "hopes" i might see something not to like. He is head and shoulders above the other big guys in this class. Great hands, great body control and positioning...diverse in his routes with quick feet and subtle set ups.

He can run any sort of route and he is clever at setting guys up....if he had a quarterback he would be getting more run. Red zone threat, deep ball threat, possession guy over the middle, drags, screens, DANGEROUS after the catch.....complete receiver that puts me in the mind of Corey Davis.
I would absolutely jump to get him in round two.

Agree entirely

I must need to take another look because I'm just not seeing it with Moore. And this wasn't even film, it was highlights which only show the good and I still wasn't impressed.

With the QB he has all his highlights must be screens and no pass travelling more than 10 yards.

That's exactly what it is. But he appears at first sight to be a clap catcher and I just can't get on board with a guy who has only been successful running screens.

I see his ceiling, he's got great potential, but I'm just not buying until I see a lot more than what I have seen

Moore is a flat out playmaker that catches everything he touches. Played with 4 different QBs last year, the first two for only a couple of weeks.

Watch him. He isn't an easy cover.

I myself am not a DJ Moore fan yet but I need to study him seriously. I see Miller has him as number 5 WR and although I don't always agree with him I respect the shit out of Miller.

I may be a bit biased because I’m a Terp and watch every Maryland game, but Moore plays the game with desire and passion. What he lacks in size he makes up for in gritty play.

He isnt exactly small, he's like 5'11" but he's thick as shit he's gotta be at least 200-210, he's built like a mid sized rb. He definitely brings some gritty play, nobody is denying that, and size isn't the concern, it's his skill set, he has been a screen target almost exclusively and he just doesn't show much more than that, I love his ability as a ball carrier and actually think he may be best suited as a 3rd down back if he learns to block(that's his receiving skill set, screens dump offs and YAC), but I'm not sold on his hands, his ability to attack the ball and win tough catches, or his route game.

When you look at the ravens issues with the wr corps what are they... no refined players who run a strong route tree, no players with consistent sure hands, no players who can attack the ball, no players who can gain quick separation through footwork, no smart/savvy receivers who can sit and make themselves an easy target, to put it simply we have no semblance of a well rounded NFL style WR, we have a bunch of speedsters who can't run a route or hold onto the ball. Joe flacco has the toughest damn job of any NFL qb, he has to throw to guys who can't get open and hope the ball somehow lands in their hands and they don't tip it in the air for a pick. I dont wanna spend a top 2 pick on any wr who doesn't have me 100% sold on 2 things: earning separation, good reliable catcher. DJ Moore has question marks in those exact things when I see his play.

Ridley, Miller, Sutton, Kirk, and st. brown are the only guys I'd want in the top 2 rounds because they have the reliable hands and the NFL ready routes, no more projects in the top 2 rounds. If he's there in the 3rd then hell yes it's worth it.

I’m more impressed by the receiver that lines up across from him Marcell Ateman
I liked him a little earlier in the year but he gains no seperation. Im starting to dislike 6'4 guys who gain no seperations. Not a lot of them in the NFL right now who are productive. The savy route runners with good hands and speed seem to be more effective. Part of that is because teams are drafting bigger corners on the outside so that nutralized these big bodied WRs.

Just watched some DJ Moore. His QB was aweful lol. Otherwise i liked what i saw. Hes not the best route runner but he knows a good bit of the route tree from what ive seen. His hands seem decent, may allow too many throws into his chest but does make some solid hands catches consistently. Not a clap catcher. Excellent YAC ability, strong lower body makes him difficult to bring down. Overall i like him, especially his YAC ability. Would definetly help out our offense just not sure if hes worth a 2nd round pick yet, at least where we are picking.

I think your overlooking DJ moore's route running and deep ball ability. Maryland lost their 2 starting qbs in 3 weeks and were forced to run a screen game passing attack. Watch his texas film and you will get an idea of him running down feild. I do agree that his hands are a slight questuon mark but consistency with the QB position and accuracy has to make it difficult on Moore, he never knows where to expect the ball to be and is forced to adjust on the fly

I'd add Auden Tate to that list. He's a fluid enough athlete that he can surprse people with his cuts, has freat body control, and really strong, reliable hands.
