The WR Thread

To me Calvin Ridley is the most NFL ready WR in this class. He runs crisp routes and catches the ball really well. It would not shock me at all if well be seeing him on sundays knowing Ozzie
Not at all, I could easily see him in Baltimore and not because he’s from Alabama. We need someone who catches the ball cleanly and runs good routes.

One WR to possibly keep an eye on is Marcell Ateman. The dude is huge, and plays like it. Plus he has a pretty high yards per catch stat.

Since 2012 (inclusive), we were definitely in a position to pick

2012
Alshon Jeffery
TY Hilton

2013
Keenan Allen

2014
Brandin Cooks
Jarvis Landry

2016
Michael Thomas

What I mean are guys like Julio Jones or AJ Green etc, we are very rarely in a position to pick an elite recieving prospect.

I was a big fan of Jeffrey and Allen although Allen is injury prone, Id go Travis Kelcie over Allen in a redraft but hindsight is still 20/20.

I'm not sure we'd pick Julio, Green, etc either - in all likelihood, Ozzie would just trade for a ton of picks.

The one negative I see with Ridley is he is 22 years old.

Well, if a player starts at 18(the year of HS graduation), plays 4 years, enters pros as a 22 yr old former senior.

If he takes a year between HS and college, or say his parents held him back in kindergarten(extremely common) he's 22 as a junior.

There is nothing out of the ordinary whatsoever about him being 22. 21-22 is a normal age for a 3 year player

He'll be 24 by the end of his rookie year. I thinl thats where hes comming from. His second contract wont come till hes 27/28 and im not sure he'll get that big contract feom us

Considering we got Humphrey at 20 now 21. Not saying it is a deal breaker but I do worry especially with our track record with receivers that any negative thing will somehow be the downfall of the prospect. I like him and several other receivers in this draft just hope if we do draft him he is a true number one because I feel that if you are going to take a receiver in the first round he better be a number one.

Theres no negative to it really. He'll be 23 when he hits the feild. I mean ya, i thought it was weird when he won the national championship with Bama as a 21 year old freshman.

I have friends who went to high school with him (as i live 10 minutes from his high school). They say he was kinda a class clown so he probably never really took his education seriously.

To me Calvin is the most polished player in the draft. He was a fantastic route runner and has only gotten better. Hes one of the most natural route runners ive seen in a long time. Natural hands catcher and tracks the deep ball exceptionally well. Walter football has become consistent at mocking him to us and theyve done a nice job predicting our picks early in the process lol. If hes there when we pick i find ozzie will have a hard time passing him up considering our wr corps at this point
