it's the biggest plus quality in bozeman's play - he's been mediocre to bad at the stuff you'd often want from a LG but he has excelled at pulling in the power run game and it's helped overpower loaded boxes and spring runs on a consistent basis

He might be great at it but the majority of blown assignments are his. He allowed I believe 4 or 5 sacks on the year, which is a lot from the guard position, I know he has more then his fair share of penalties. Fortunately he is the least important position on the OLine so to have a weak LG is not the worst thing in the world. The fact that Yanda is retiring soon means that if Powers doesnt take the ol Ravens jump and become great all of a sudden then interior OLine is a huge need and probably the only glaring one over the next two years.

oh absolutely - he is clearly the weakest link on this OL but as a unit they've performed well and part of that is bozeman's success pulling from left to right - that does not make him irreplaceable however and I'm sure we'll be looking for interior OL upgrade(s) this offseason

Bozeman has had 5 penalties this year and 1 declined. He had 4 in one game and 1 this past game. Yes he's let up more than his fair share of sacks, but he is in his first year of starting. He absolutely has room to improve. Now does that mean we shouldn't find a better guard. No, absolutely not, we should draft lineman in every draft.

Guys... I am actually nervous for this team going forward into the coming years. Although I truly believe we are going to continue to improve, look at the rest of our division. The steelers look legit, I feel like one day the Browns are going to click, and the Bengals have talent and will take Burrow. It will be a division with 4 promising young quarterbacks. Gonna be a tough 6 games every year. Gotta fix this D and PLEASE KEEP THE COORDINATORS

Honestly wouldn't be much different than years past. The Steelers have always been a problem, the Bengals have always had good talent dragged down by poor coaching, and the Browns have always played us tough regardless of anything going on with their team. I'm not really worried as long as EDC is in charge.

Can we just enjoy this ride for as long as it lasts before we start worrying? Besides, this franchise has found a way to stay competitive for the vast majority of seasons in its existence. EDC is off to a hell of a start in his GM career and I trust he will continue that trend. But to your point, these 2 coordinators are possibly the best tandem we’ve ever had. I expect them to both get offers eventually. It’s just part of the cycle of life in the NFL.
One thing to note about the rest of the AFC North: they still all have to play each other too, you know. As for this season, I think the Bengals will be useless against their last 3 divisional games.

The Browns and Steelers have yet to play each other, but will do so starting this Thursday. This is beyond a must-win game for CLE if they have any hopes of making a late-season surge. Like I said, I want both games to split. The question is: how will the Browns fare in Pittsburgh?

Back to us, we're rolling right now and hopefully we continue this. However, just imagine how improved our defense will be if we can get a legit pass-rush (this season is a wash regarding any hopes of our pass-rushing actually getting sacks for me). We can improve too on offense if we can get a legit #2. Barring injuries or anything else happening off the field, the future is promising.

Iman Marshall about to be brought up to active roster. We cutting Chris Moore or Cyrus Jones?

my guess is cyrus - he serves basically no purpose on this roster at this point if he's not going to be returning - chris moore at least has non kick-off return special teams value

i wonder if imam is someone who can play special teams - our kick coverage has taken some huge hits with the loss of bethel, deshon, trawick and with chris moore injured last week - they might have been the 4 best players on special teams we had this season (maybe add levine and chris board in there also)

for special teams context - the 4 players who played the most special teams snaps for us against the bengals were:

anthony levine
chris board
lj fort
jordan richards

of those guys the only potential replacement for the guys who were out is richards - to be fair someone for whom i have very little information or knowledge of

Yep, Harbs said ST need reinforcements when talking about him.

So looking back over the game again I have to adjust my thinking on our run defense, while BWill is still our true anchor there is also a big dropoff when Pierce is out. It doesnt really work without either one.

its not even when both arent on the field, for some reason its just when one isnt available - its like we do fine when we have the option to have both in when we want but when we cant then it all falls apart

It makes sense - need nose and DT to fill up that space. All our other guys are 5T ends basically and not very good..

Vernon Hargraves just got cut, seems hes an injury bust with only 2 interceptions. He was a pretty popular name amongst fans during the 2016 draft, Im glad we went with Stanley.

I havent always given Stanley the credit he deaerves but this year hes been the best LT in the league and Im glad to eat crow.
