The Random Thought Thread

BB was the one that hired Ozzie, back in Cleveland, so I'm not sure they would have bumped heads. Now would Ozzie have left to become a GM of another team so he had more control? We don't know that, but that is quite possible.

We will never know how many Lombardi's he would have if he was the Ravens coach. That being said, he would have and had been bumping heads with Art Modell and that is the reason he fired him. Who does everyone think built those early year Super Bowls with the Patriots? Not trying to take anything away from BB, but if you look at those early Patriot rosters, you will see many of the core players on those teams were drafted by Bill Parcells and not Bill Belichick. We didn't have those players and it may have taken him longer to get those types of players. Would he have been in position to draft Tom Brady? Again, we don't ever know this, but it's an interesting conversation to have.
On the other hand, BB is one of the reasons most fans outside New England absolutely despise the Patriots. I am glad we don’t have a spy-gate and a deflate-gate kind of asterisk attached to our wins. How are our Lombardi’s won? The old fashioned way....we earn them!

how many teams have a 1st round LT available in case of injury. This is a luxury that no team has at their disposal. We need more than a left tackle. Would this be great to have. No doubt, but we need other positions more than we need left tackle...or right.

i can think of only 1 team - the eagles

yeah, that's true, forgot about Dillard, but that being said, Peters is getting old and how much longer is he going to be with the team, so I'm not even sure that one would count. Both of our tackles are young and could be with our team for many many years to come. No way we draft a tackle in the first round, because he may never play.

If we make the playoffs do we have a legitimate chance of playing in the super bowl? I feel like we all kept saying you just wait till lamars third year and Eric DeCostas second year managing. But like are we there now? Idk I'm just hyped. Haven't been this hype in like 7 years
IF we make the playoffs, we have a chance just like every other team in the playoffs. Our 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2017 seasons have shown why this game can be a matter of inches or yards.

To me, it is simple. All I EVER cared about is making the playoffs. It didn't matter if we had HFA throughout the AFC, 1st round bye, won the division, or get in as a wild card. Once you're in, the season restarts. Ask the 2011 Packers.....

no question about that, but having a bye week and home field advantage certainly helps, just ask the Patriots.

oh i agree with you - a high pick on a tackle is a waste even at BPA tbh - just saying there actually was a team that hit your criteria - its a shame greg senat got sniped off waivers by the chiefs

Oh, I know you agreed with me. I also agree with you about Senat and wished we could have found a way to keep him. I certainly hope we draft an interior lineman in the first three rounds that has the ability to take over for Yanda when he retires. Not saying he will be as good, because we will never find someone as good as him, just someone who can play reasonably well in our system.

I think we need to think about trading up in the draft for Derrick brown. We’re still struggling bad to generate pass rush up the middle and vs the worst line in football, and even worse, when one of our nosetackles are out it seems like we get GASHED. You shouldn’t need 2 nose tackles to be a sound run defense, and by next year it’s possible that the better of the 2 is gone, by 2021 it’s possible both are gone. Derrick brown can play the nose role but he is also a supreme athlete with a lot of length, he can really move and control the line and shed blocks and use that length to have a wide tackle radius.

I trust our FO to build well around this team. They've been doing a great job at it this far

Steelers winning games on D, Ravens blowing teams up offensively.

What is it going to take to sign Marcus Peters

Xavien Howerd signed for 5/75, but they were cheap and only gave him 7m in bonus money and I believe there is an out at 3/41.
Fuller got 4/56
Butler got 5/6
Trumaine Johnson got something like Howard with an 18-20m bonus.

Thoughts .....

howard's contract and maybe johnson's are the only recent ones - only ones that really matters in terms of av/yr

they're probably the best ballparks - that 15/yr average

I think that is where it is headed and I certainly hope they intend to sign him. He's a must sign imo.

I am not trying to jinx us at all by saying this, because I believe it. We are one injury away from being in trouble, and that is at Tackle. The backup, worries me to death. If a quality Tackle falls to us in the first round of the draft (which they rarely do when you pick late) if I was EDC, I wouldn’t think twice about grabbing him.
No way we take a tackle in the first round when we have two above average starters with Stanley being top 5 at his position, unless it is someone who can slide in and start at guard and swing to tackle if their was an injury i dont see that happening

Watch Lamar on the sideline after he throws touchdown passes. He's just locked in, very little excitement. Almost like he expects it. Watch Lamar on the sideline after he breaks people's ankles. He's amped up riding his own hype train lol. As he should be. Most fun player in the NFL hands down. MVP

My eyeballs tell me Marquise is still not running at his top speed yet and he was still torching their DBs
I would agree with you and when he starts to get up to top speed, which may be next season, then he is going to be one tough WR to cover. Last week he still got 3 receptions for 48 yards on Gilmore. That says a lot right there. Supposedly Gilmore came up to him at the game.
