WR/RB Thread

eliminating flacco leaves pretty much no difference.

so they are equally spending on both sides when you leave flacco out.

however the QB is part of the offense so its retarded to not count him.

investing more in the defense is just a baseless excuse......
Well that's surprising.

But I wouldn't say leaving the qb out is retarded when we're discussing the qbs supporting cast. That's at least how I understood the discussion, we talking about the FO not allocating resources to help joe right?

Heres another highlight

antonio brown was a 6th rd pick, hines ward and wallace were 3rd rd picks and they had solid careers. i agree ozzie should take blame but the receiver coach should as well. i wish they would have tried hard to get benjamin and they could have freed up the $$ to make it happen. wallace $8 million is off the books after the season.
You don't think Pittsburgh did a great job finding that type of talent? The Steelers have a history of finding great receivers and I don't see any team jumping on the Steelers WRs coaches. They have had plenty of different WR coaches in the past but I don't know about their scouting department seeing much shakeups.

I just think people are giving too much credit to the Steelers coaching staff when they have been cycling offensive coaches and yet Kevin Colbert has been there for over 17 years. The players need coaches to be put in the position to succeed but it's their job to work on their crafts and execute.

I’m not sure why this obvious fact is so hard for some to understand. To have a successful passing game you need guys that can make plays and actually catch the ball. It ain’t rocket science.
We need young talent here, if you don't get young receiving talent eventually it's going to hit you.

I agree. I watched a rerun of Seahawks Texans. Looked to me like receivers making plays for their QB all over!! Not a lot of precision routes, timing and tight throws that game. But more of receivers making great plays for their QB!! A luxury joe sure knows nothing of. Lots of good receivers will hit the market. Ravens need to get one!! Like for real!! Can probably get Marqise/ Paul Richardson cheaper than Jefferson costed. If there is salary cap excuses then all it means is ravens aren't making offense a priority. Like it found a way to pay Jefferson. If management can't find a way to sign a receiver it means it is not wanting to invest in offense
I don't think the Seahawks is a good example, I would point to the 2015 Bengals who drafted and developed those receivers. They drafted and developed all of those receivers. AJ was a guy they invested a top 5 pick in, Sanu was a guy picked in the mid-3rd, and Jones was a late pick who they developed into a great WR. I think that's a great example of a team who has made an investment in drafting and developing talent. The Bengals are a team who just always seem to find receivers to me.

The Steelers relative success at WR is a combination of a few factors including draft luck, better offensive talent and better development and coaching.

As a side note, I have never been more frustrated in a player in a while then Campanaro. He is a guy who could be a great player but he has serious issues with staying on the field. Camp's injury issues really bug me because the guy can be a good player for us. It's no secret why the Ravens have put up with injury issues, I just think the guy can be a really good player for us but unfortunately I do not think he will ever be able to do that.

Perriman takes the cake for me, 1st round pick, missed an entire year for a mystery injury, hasn't been consistent or remotely close to what he was hyped up to be and has had other injuries.

Um if you think he has had no other injuries you really havn't been paying attention.

Perriman is another guy but he's stable during the season. The thing about Camp is that he will make a play and make you think that he's going to be something and then out of nowhere he gets hurt and misses multiple games. Perriman is very frustrating when it comes to his off-field health no doubt, but this is Camp's fourth year in a row where this has happened and I'm really over it at this point. You just can't depend on him.

I feel better about Camp on our roster rather than Perriman.

I'm putting Maxx on the top of my list. Dude can't stay healthy, but when he's on the field, he hasn't shown me much in the regular season.

Maxx is a guy I honestly could imagine would end up where he is right now. He was a very young and injury prone TE. It hasn't shocked me that he still hasn't been able to make a big impact yet.

And to think I got excited when we drafted him. I lost all faith in him. Of course, I want him to prove me wrong because he could help us out in a big way.

I wanted him badly here, mocked him to us in the old boards and man, I am just as disappointed as you are.

At least Boyle is somewhat competent. Hopefully he doesn't get suspended again.
I really like Boyle. I hope he can get the intricacies of the game down and learn how to consistently separate from LBs then he could be the next great Ravens TE. Honestly, I think he could be a beast for us next season and truly break out. I can't wait to see what he does next season. Boyle is a guy I have high hopes for.

I just hopes he avoids the Gilmore effect. Gilmore could use his athleticism and size to beat LBs all day long but he had issues when it came to beating double teams, chip blocks and recognizing the zone. It held him back and I hope that doesn't stunt Boyle.
