WR/RB Thread

im not sure it is our scouts. i think it is ozzie overriding everyone when on the clock and taking gambles on guys like correia, arthur brown etc etc.. thinking he is going to out smart every other gm instead of drafting diggs, juju and some of the other guys we have passed over, plus i do not think engram has done a good job developing the guys we do draft. i have seen no improvement in moore, perriman when healthy, matthews etc etc.. jmo
Ozzie does not override everyone when they are on the clock. The board is set and they are going by the board, whether you agree with it or not. I’m not saying they have made mistakes, but the last couple years, they have done tremendous overall. Sure they have had a lack of offensice playmakers over the last couple of years, but this team has been going through a rebuilding or actually resetting process. The defense is young, has a bunch of knee and talented players. The offense has Ronnie Stanley as a young stud left tackle for a long time to come. Many didn’t want him because they didn’t feel he was strong enough and wouldn’t be a good run blocker, but he’s the best run blocker in the league at this point.

This offseason, I’m sure he will focus on the offense and we will improve. I’m not saying we will make the playoffs, but we will get better and if we don’t make it in 2018, we will make it in 2019 when I feel the team will be completely rebuilt. Two years of defens and two years of offense rebuilding.

I think it’s time he is replaced and I do believe coaching has a hand in a players development, much more than any other sport. Coaches are absolutely in charge of putting the players in the right position to succeed. @TheCity5

i just cant think of literally one good wr we've developed since he's been here - maybe kamar aiken (does he even count?) and torrey smith seemed to regress from his promising first 2 years once engram turned up - if our defence can up their catch rate with int drills then why cant engram improve the catching of guys who legit have that as their job ie. perriman and moore

Why are people putting Juju Smith on a pedestal after one game?
ju ju has been showing life all season. I think he got around 500 yards 5tds. I see what you mean though i dont like the hype of players after one game neither but thats what everyone here does, especially when it comes to our own players

I'm not impressed at all with Engram since he became our WR coach. Aside from our issues catching the ball, is he even teaching these guys how to properly run routes? Perriman still runs routes like garbage in his 3rd year. Granted, he's missed a lot of time, but he's shown minimal improvement at best.

Perriman has regressed in his route tree since college. He looked way better at UCF with his routes and it was little nuances like head and shoulder twitches that telegraphed his next move, the sharp cuts were decent and he got off press very well with good handfighting, he does none of this now.

I wonder if we can convince Boldin to become our WRs coach next year. At the very least, we need to replace Engram with someone competent.

hope you are right. it would be a big help to not have 20 players on ir

He does have above 400yards at the halfway point of the season, while making huge progress each week. Also he's a genius at the celebration and Twitter game.
I became a fan of his when he rejected that twat Mia Khalifa

He also plays off the best offensive trio in the league, so lets say we take him over Bowser, now hes getting a lot more attention and sits on the bench getting cold because Flacco is overthrowing him.

Ah, wait wait wait. I never said I regret taking Bowser over him and I wouldn't have taken him with our second pick. But he is having a nice rookie season that justifies all the talk about him recently.

I’ve soured on selecting a WR in the first couple of rounds unless said WR is in the same class as Julio Jones, Calvin Johnson, AJ Green, etc., where you just know he’s going to be a stud regardless of the QB position. It’s a recipe for disaster in my opinion. We don’t have a very good QB, an awful OC and coaches that can’t develop WR’s to save their lives. I’d rather just stick with proven Vets while Ozzie and company are running the show.

I don't really disagree with that, but at the same time I do wonder what kind of offense would you prefer? Me personally, I'm getting so sick of these 1 or 2-yard flat routes.

air croyell or Erhardt Perkins.

first takes advantage of flacco arm and goes well with the receivers on the roster.

latter is a very QB friendly system , which should makes things easier for the QB.

erhardt Perkins is the offense I want here.
