On Week Seventeen of the NFL Season, The league has given us to seeeee…
Division titles still up for grabs,
Playoff seeding chaos everywhere,
Christmas games that mean nothing,
Coaches praying they keep their jobs,
Myles Garrett chasing history,
Lumps of coal for losing teams,
Vegas laughing at us all,
Flags flying on every play,
Refs deciding games again,
A tank bowl for draft control,
Front offices sweating bullets,
And the 2026 number one overall pick!
NFL Christmas Gameday (Netflix Exclusive)
Cowboys @ Commanders: When the schedule came out, this looked like it would be a critical game in the NFC playoff picture. The Commanders were just in the NFC Championship Game with everyone expecting them to take the next step and knock the Eagles off their throne. Instead, it's been a rough season for Dan Quinn and company who shut down Jayden Daniels for the season so he can be ready for next year. Dallas meanwhile, once again wasting another year of Dak Prescott and one of the best offenses in the league is already eliminated from playoff contention. Dallas looks for the season sweep of Washington in a game that suddenly has no meaning.
Lions @ Vikings: The Minnesota Vikings letting Sam Darnold walk and ignoring Aaron Rodgers may have cost them the 2025 season, as JJ McCarthy once again is hurt meaning Max Brosmer will get the start for Minnesota. While Brosmer filled in for McCarthy and helped the Vikings win against the Giants, they play host to a desperate Lions team clinging on to the last bit of playoff hopes they have. Detroit will need to win out and for Green Bay to lose the final two games to make it as the seventh seed, but you know Minnesota would love to end their division rivals playoff hopes Thursday.
Thursday Night Football (Amazon Prime)
Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs: Before Patrick Mahomes injury, this game on paper had game of the week potential. The Broncos head into Kansas City (soon to be actual Kansas) looking to clinch the AFC West before the final week of the season. A win and Chargers loss will give Denver it's first AFC West title in ten years while needing some help to clinch the one seed in the AFC. The Chiefs meanwhile, have now lost two quarterbacks to ACL injuries, have seemingly benched several starters and are turning to.... Chris Oladokun at Quarterback. Perhaps, the Chiefs could give Trent Green a call to see if he wants to suit up on Christmas, or embracing the tank for a higher pick to make us all regret them missing the playoffs a year from now works too.
NFL Saturday Games
Texans @ Chargers: In a playoff rematch from last season, the Chargers who clinched a playoff spot on Monday following the Colts loss, looks for payback against a red hot Houston Texans team currently on a seven game win streak. An impressive win streak that includes wins against Jacksonville, Buffalo and KC before Mahomes' injury, Houston is looking to make a statement with their eighth win in a row and put the AFC on notice ahead of the playoffs.
Ravens @ Packers: For the Ravens, it's the same old story of another double digit fourth quarter blown lead. The Ravens do more than any other team to constantly beat themselves every week, and now they are fighting for their playoff lives on Saturday Night. The Ravens head to historic Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers, needing a win and a Browns win over Pittsburgh on Sunday to keep their AFC North Title hopes alive. To do it, they will have to do it without Lamar Jackson who is out with a back injury. For Green Bay, Jordan Love will miss the game due to a concussion meaning Malik Willis will get the start for Green Bay. Thanks to the Lions loss on Christmas, the Packers have clinched a playoff spot. With the NFC North still up for grabs if Chicago slips in these final two weeks, this is a must win otherwise a Packers loss will clinch Chicago it's first NFC North Title since 2018.
Sunday 1PM Early Games
Steelers @ Browns: We are officially on Myles Garrett watch come Sunday, as he is one sack away from breaking the record held by Michael Strahan & T.J. Watt. The lone bright spot on this Cleveland team since 2017, Garrett has anchored a Browns defense that has kept them in plenty of games over the years despite the inconsistent quarterback play over the years. Getting this record against a Division Rival will be icing on the cake for Garrett, and it will be even better if the Browns can score the big upset win on Sunday. The Pittsburgh Steelers are in search of their first AFC North Title since 2020, and if the Packers beat the Ravens on Saturday then they will clinch the division before Sunday. If the Ravens win on Saturday, a win over Cleveland simply will be enough to win the division. The Steelers will be without TJ Watt for another week while D.K Metcalf's two game suspension was upheld. Also ruled out is Wide Receiver Calvin Austin III and cornerbacks Brandin Echols & James Pierre. For Cleveland, a position they have been in many times before, playing the spoiler to someone's season and they look to spoil the Steelers Division Title hopes on Sunday.
Jaguars @ Colts: What a fall from grace it has been for the Indianapolis Colts this season, riding high early on with Daniel Jones at Quarterback, trading two first round picks for Jets star Cornerback Sauce Gardner, all in hopes of getting to the Super Bowl. Then Daniel Jones got injured, and everything fell apart. The season that could have been for the Colts, has turned to hope for the Jacksonville Jaguars who can clinch the AFC South with a win and Texans loss on Saturday.
