Coaching Carousel 2026

Something to note about the Dolphins, under McDaniels it was the first time the team went to the playoffs in consecutive years. You'd have to go all the way back to 2000-2001 since they did that. They lost to the Bills 31-34 in the playoffs AND they did it with the 3rd string QB.

They also won 11 games one of those years which is the most since 2008.

sold.

Bring him in!

football is way more than X’s and O’s. You need a certain amount of rah rah, and taking and enforcing accountability.

Even grown men and professionals feel doubt, pride creeps in, frustrations boil over, football still is an incredibly passion and energy fueled sport. You are always going to need a coach and at least one player on each side of the ball that can be the tone setter, the calm keeper, and the attitude adjuster for a team of 53 world class athletes who beat the shit out of eachother for 5 months out of every year.

The best head coaches are more than just X’s and O’s, they command respect from their whole team and lead by example, their presence alone keeps everyone sharp and focused. Sean mcvay, Sean Payton, Andy Reid, bill Belichick, all X’s and O’s guys but also run a tight ship and their players are consistently locked in, they are guys who players don’t wanna let down.

Gimme boff.

It's just a gut feeling I have with him. I just see him as a possible Dick Lebeau type, except for offense.

Also just a general observation that the Dolphins under him weren't good at closing out games, weren't good on the road, and the defense never went above just okay.

It might be telling how former raven Deshon Elliott called the dolphins soft after experiencing playing for McDaniel and Vic Fangio jumped ship just to be apart of the eagles coaching staff after one year coaching with the dolphins. Jalen Ramsey also for some reason didn't no longer want to be apart of the team which led to him being traded to the steelers.

Sounds like Stefanski is indeed one of our finalists but Atlanta is pushing hard to get something done there
I feel like the only thing left is to put ink to paper. Too much smoke around it for it to not be happening, have to think this mean Kirk Cousins will be the starter next season for Atlanta as well.

Agreed, at this point, it would almost be more surprising if he doesn't sign there.

Imma just blame Harbs for our lack of Trench studs… I choose to believe

Harbaugh used to be that guy, he lost it over the years. His talks in the locker room after the game, win or lose were falling on deaf ears, his words didn’t come off as genuine anymore and everyone on the team could feel it, and what I’ve seen of McDaniel addressing his players in this manner felt a lot of the same, like he’s forcing something that isn’t really in his nature.

It’s not something I can quantify, it’s all vibes here, something just feels off about McDaniel as a HC for a franchise that’s supposed to be one of the more hard nosed teams in the league.

Yeah. I can't say with full confidence he's unable to lead this team, but just seems like something is missing. Honestly Flores seems the type we need for leadershipship, but there are better options Xs and Os wise(not that I think he's far off).

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I just don’t think him leading this team would be a problem. Especially if his DC brings that energy you guys are claiming he lacks

you've just named at least 1 guy who's not rah rah rah though - and at least one other who's only learned to become more so later in his HC career

you can be a leader and be passionate and inspiring without being an amazing motivational speaker type of guy - you can lead by setting a standard and holding people accountable

I understand what you’re saying and with that logic why you may doubt McDaniel is the guy but all you’re really saying is you need a coach who will demand consistency and accountability. Why do you think McDaniel isn’t that guy? From what I seen he does that.
I am willing to bet he would 100% call out his players and if you ran your route at 9 yards instead of the designated 10 yard route and tell you why he needs it that way.
Maybe defensive wise he may not be that guy but was Harbaugh that guy? Or did he just fulfill that rah rah bs that is being made a priority by some.

also if that's the case then the guy you're employing is anthony weaver... without a doubt he's going to be the guy within the group that's been interviewed who will enthuse the players and coaches with the most motivational energy and "culture"

idk - all the things ive seen of mcdaniel seem entirely genuine
hence why some people have called him corny - because he's being genuine instead of pretending to be something he's not
