The Shutout, the Running Game, and the Injuries

Pats kinda got exposed vs Buffalo imho. They remind me a lot of the 49ers, not very talented but they execute very well. Qb is legit but he is a 2nd year player. Front seven is legit but not downright scary like Houston or Denver. Everywhere else they are frightfully average talent wise. OLine is very average, secondary has guys you can attack and they are getting obscene mileage out of Hunter Henry and Mack Hollins that doesn't feel sustainable.

Ravens match their execution we win, hands down.

I think this is probably accurate. Assuming they keep Linderbaum as intended, you have 3 starters locked in in him, Stanley, and Rosengarten. You have Jones and Vorhees competing for LG which is 5. You probably feel good about Vinson as depth at this point, and you also still have Bullock. That's 7 on the roster already. You're probably looking at one meaningful shot at RG, and then a veteran and/or draft pick on the interior and tackle spots to add some competition.

Didn’t watch that game but good to hear. Point is moving forward we’re going to have to score more points, be more efficient in the red zone and finish drives for TDs. Can’t expect the defense to shut down teams every week.

We've been spoiled last few years with some ravens teams that had no weaknesses. This version has managed to cobble together an effective pass rush and the run blocking has gotten in gear, but that pass blocking is going to be bad with no fix. Good news is every AFC team is flawed so as long as we get the right matchups in the playoffs (not Denver/Houston back to back) we can make it happen.

But yeah that pass blocking means this won't be a 30pt offense, it's gonna have to be a 25 pt offense that counts on the D.

IDK, there’s work arounds there(quick slants, play action, etc.)and if we can get the run going with Henry, Keaton and especially Lamar, that will also will slow the rush. Not having that threat severely handicaps pass blocking.

The pieces are there, just need to execute. If we can’t score 30 points in some games we’re sunk.

Roquan has 0 sacks 0 FF and 0 picks this year (although he did get robbed vs Vikings sponsored by draft kings spread)

Not what you like to see from a 20 mil mlb regardless of how good he's been against the run. For the amount of our corners he injuries with "big" hits, you'd think maybe it's time to stop that shit and find a different way to get the damn ball

The Ravens always had weaknesses that only got exploited when the margin of error decreased. Guys need to make plays.

You know what the work around has usually been? Asking Lamar to escape pressure and create/lead the rushing attack. As he's managed to work himself back I noticed that the team did a piss poor job in stepping up/changing the gameplan to better suit a QB who is clearly hurt with an O-line that has been struggling.

I too ask all the time how or why we don't incorporate quick slants and PA with Henry on the field

Not sure why it doesn’t happen, pretty sure quick passes were run in the Bears game with Huntley. Strange.
I’m also not sure why you think they wouldn’t change things if Lamar desired, it’s always seemed they listen to him and do what he asks. I can’t see where they wouldn’t use his input in game planning.

Based on what I know, he can desire something as much as he wants but it won't necessarily be implemented. What I don't understand is why they don't ask Lamar to be more of a sophisticated passer. When Todd arrived it was clear that Lamar could do much more than just be an explosive runner who extended plays with his feet. I always ask the question, if I take that away from you what else can you do?

We had a preview of that this year where Lamar either wouldn't or couldn't (it was obvious to me that he was hurt) run around and mask the issues we have had like he did in the past. So what was the adjustment to help? Did we ask him to throw on time? Run quicker developing routes? 2-3 step drops?

A few years ago I think Odell exposed that they run and practice a ton of plays that come gametime they just throw away.
