The Refs, the Special Teams, and the Mistakes

I cant believe we dont lead the league in fumbles. We have 19 but the Vikings and Seahawks have 20.

I fully expect us to be in sole possession of 1st place when the season ends.

This was the real brilliance of the Patriots “do your job” mantra. Nobody on those teams ever tried to be the hero, nobody tried to extend anything, it was just a cold calculating “everyone doing what the were assigned to do” for 60 minutes.

We have it so in our heads that we need to be superheroes that everyone tries to get 100% out of every play leading to mistakes
Coaching!

Its possible I guess . Just don't see how Vrabel makes a dfference in the ravens playoff losses. Some of their losses included down passes or either due to Lamar not playing in the game or wasn't able to finish the game. I just don't see how Vrabel coaching style is suppose to make such a significant difference. Hes a good coach though but I definitely think John Harbaugh is underrated but it is what it is .

That same Titans team had the chiefs in a dogfight in the afccg.

I could be wrong but I just think this team needs a new voice.

I still can’t believe we let Mike Macdonald go man

famously bill belichick teams had a no diving for the endzone policy, iirc there were even team fines for players if they did it

I don't know if that was a dog fight. I didn't watch the game. It was close game when I look at the score even through the titans needed atleast 2 touchdowns to win . Honestly I'm not really sure what the ravens need other than better offensive line and pass rushers. If a new voice is needed then cool. I just would be surprised if a new voice is gonna stop players from dropping passes in key moments in the playoffs, stop Lamar from playing hero ball and simply take what defense is given him , and etc.

I do think maybe this season is needed for these players though. Just think alot of them need to grow up and maybe need to feel rock bottom to get there.

We've been blowing leads since he got here and the team hasnt shown any mental fortitude since the real leaders of the team retired. Now some of you want to pin this on Lamar coming up short in the playoffs but the team had been failing in tight moments since he was in high school.

Pitta low key might be the most clutch raven ever

Seemed like that dude literally never came up short when his number was called
Might not even be low key... He had what was considered a career ending injury and still came back for more and was just as good as before it until another injury or re-injury ended it. He was great!

I think if the team haven't shown any mental fortitude they wouldn't have been in positions to potentially lead their division and still be in position to do so after how they started the season . Is there a Ray Lewis or Ed Reed on this team ? Likely no but I've watched this team for awhile and even back in those Ed Reed and Ray Lewis days this team still had some hard and gut wrench losses even embarrassing ones.

That just goes to show you it isn't easy to win in the NFL . Fans wanting Harbaugh gone/fired and overall wanting change is cool . Honestly Harbaugh has coached this team long enough for fans to get tired of him. Chiefs fans tired of Andy Reid and this likely his worst season with Patrick Malhomes as his quarterback but I honestly think it's wishful thinking that the ravens can move on from Harbaugh and hire a new head coach that's going to drastically be better than him and take this team to the promise land instantly. Im just not that optimistic like some that believe that.

Every coach has gut wrenching losses. Our coach is currently the leader going back to the 90s.

I get it, but even moving on from Brian Billick and even when we brought him in initially, with those two changes a SB occurred somewhat quickly. I think with veteran teams that have been in the mix for a long time and have been on the short end of the stick are more susceptible - if that's the right word, to progress if the message is right. I think both BB and JH had the right message at the right time. But both of their times passed... I really would have loved Sean Payton. :crying:

I would argue that the Jim Caldwell transition was a huge move that you might want to look at for what a new "outlook" can do.

This team desperately needs a change starting with the HC. Like you mentioned is not that Harbaugh is a bad coach it's just his time has passed. The team looks so unmotivated and disinterested in BIG games and this is a symptom that the HC is no longer effective. Plus, our continual failures in the playoffs and the way we lost those games should've had him on the hot seat several seasons ago.

I'd like to retract my Mark Andrews blame on that last play where it looked like Lamar was throwing to Hopkins. I now think that is on Lamar. Sorry Mark. Hopkins was opening and waiting, even waving and Lamar didn't hit him. He didn't get it out fast enough, which sort of seems to be an issue with him along with consistent accuracy this year. We always hear the ball needs to come out quick. Take another look at that play and tell me what you think.
I think it’s on the refs because it never should have happened in the first place
