The Refs, the Special Teams, and the Mistakes

This team looked dead and buried when the refs gifted the Steelers 4 points on a bogus special teams call.
Those 4 points really mattered at the end of the game when the refs jobbed the Ravens again.
Likely getting called for not having possession but Rodgers getting given the benefit of the doubt on possession seems wildly inconsistent to me.
Ravens didn't convert and got turned over on downs when if those 4 points hadn't happened, the FG would have been good enough for the lead.

So many special teams mistakes this game too even excluding the Travis Jones bullshit penalty.
Loop missed extra point and got the kickoff wrong twice.
Returners looking like they're running half-speed with poor blocking.
Keondre Jackson penalty when the Ravens were chasing the game with 2 minutes to go.

Offence took forever to get any sort of momentum going. Missed blocks, Lamar's INT, no running game until the 2nd half.
They did at least get going and Lamar started looking a bit more like himself again. Redzone still a massive issue.

Meanwhile, defence started looking like their September selves too at times...

They manage to get the ball back to the offence one final time.
Only for the offence to disappear in that final 2 minute drill - took 90 seconds to get the first set of downs. And in the end the OL was the undoing, as it's been for much of the season.

This team didn't play well enough to win, but they did make enough plays to win ultimately.
Story of this team's season... giving themselves too much to do in the 2nd half.
But the story may well be the refs in the end.

Horrible way to lose.

Straight hate watches from here on out until heads roll

Was right not to trust Orr. Man and 0 blitz isn't a scheme. OL still dog shit. Coaching dog shit. Route concepts dog shit. Lamar missing gimmes. Last possession no urgency. Eat a dick refs

I don’t think it’s fair to criticize our team today; the refs fixed that game

i think it's fair to criticise them for sure
they were awful in the first half, made too many mistakes in key moments

that's not to let the refs off the hook because the team should still have won

but they didn't deserve to

but that's kind of been the story of the ravens the last few years, they don't have that killer instinct to win those games they don't deserve to

No kind of killer instinct and mistakes every fucking week

Short story... we won that game. The Zebras don't know the rules. You could take 14 steps in the endzone and bobble it on the 15th and they would rule it that they didn't have possession. Three feet down? WTF? A running back only has to break the plain. This is stupid.

The plus side is that Lamar looks like himself. A plethora of unique and effective playcalls today. We went on a huge run offensively on 4 straight drives that could have, should have been even better if not for the miscues and questionable calls. Back-to-back weeks where a play is called one way against us and not against the other team. Brutal. I am fairly confident we hold them to no more than 3 if the TD wasn't taken away.

rodgers only had to have the ball for a split second before he was ruled to have possession
likely apparently extending the ball doesn't count as a football move and therefore his 2 steps are apparently not enough for possession

Missed opportunity with Bateman in the redzone and obviously Likely.

What else is there to say about the O-line at this point? Thanks to the special teams, Ravens started 20 yards back of where they should have started. unreal

Lamar got to learn to take the easy play and stop trying to go for the big play especially in big moments. Like I don't understand why he keep making that mistake but it is what it is . Atleast the game was somewhat entertaining

11 point swing from the officials puts everything else to bed for me. Fuck. That.

That's my perspective, too. Even if you give us the turnover, we're in FG range, and we'd be able to stop them to only need another one. And we were in range twice again within the last two drives.

We had this kind of meltdown in the Flacco era in 2015 and Harbaugh got 3 more years to right the ship, Lamar saved his job and here we are having that meltdown again ten years later.
Plus I still maintain the opinion any somewhat competent head coach could have won it all in 2012 with Ray’s last ride and Flacco playing out of his mind in the playoffs. Harbaugh’s record is so inflated because of Lamar
