Both teams coming off their 2nd win of the season.
Road game on TNF.

No idea yet if Lamar's going to play.

But you need to keep winning to close the gap in the division.

In the spirit of the season being the remix to the 2021 season apparently, how could we ever forget the tomfoolery when we played them in TNF that year.......

Lamar making his return in Miami being a Florida Boy and all sounds like a movie lol. We got this! Now I'm still predicting a Jackson 5 like I did against the Bears but more of a statement game to remind the league who Lamar Jackson is.

I liked a lot of the decision making on Sunday.

Taking the FGs one after another to creep up the score, either keeping yourself in the game early or extending your lead to apply pressure, giving yourself a much better chance come fourth quarter. I better fucking not see harbaugh start with that shit when Lamar comes back, going for it instead of taking the points, chasing your lost opportunities the whole game. Run the ball, take the points when they’re there, play good defense, don’t commit penalties, that’s what we did all Sunday and it worked beautifully, keep that kinda shit going with Lamar.

The FG choices were fairly straight forward and a function of down and distance. He still passed up on a 57 yard FG on 4th and 5 I believe.

That was a tough call but a good one. It was a spot where putting the defense in a bad situation could have avalanched.

yeah but its been a while since we've seen a team as "week to week' as the falcons. Jekyll and Hyde were a stable married couple next to that lot.
It's just amplified by the swings. Every year pretty much all of your "mediocre" teams fall under that bucket. Pittsburgh has been the ultimate "week to week" team for like a decade now. It's the Mike Tomlin calling card.

Every single week in this league there's a minimum of 2-3 games that largely surprise people. Things that you were certain weren't going to happen... happen. Miami is on the road against a perceived "good team" coming off a 25 point, rock-bottom loss to the Browns. They drop 34 and blow them out.
Chicago off a 4 game winning streak gets blown out by a backup QB on a 1 win team that couldn't stop anybody from scoring.
Cincinnati has a home game against a winless team who tried to bench their QB but couldn't because the backup is hurt, coming off a dominant performance over PIT, and they give up 23 points in the 4th qtr to lose.
The Giants, who aren't even a good team, beat both the Chargers and Eagles this year, and should have beaten the Broncos, get destroyed by a team they beat by 17 three weeks ago.

This shit literally happens every week.

I thought I read something about John saying they decided that having Lamar play twice in 5 days did not seem like a good idea.

that was the one that surprised me
he was "proved right" because the punt was excellent, followed by an INT

but i still think it was the wrong choice in the moment

it's also not like we didn't go for it on 4th down in other situations, it's just that people don't really relitigate go decisions when they're successful and not necessarily obviously "key" plays

Yeah in this game, not sure what there was to re-litigate.
4th and 15 at the CHI 24 - FG.
4th and 3 at CHI 10 - FG.
4th and 8 at CHI 14 - FG.

These are all obvious FG situations that we wouldn't have gone for if Lamar were out there anyway.
And I don't think we'd go with Lamar out there on 4th and 5 on the CHI 39 with a 3 point lead either. I think that's either FG or Punt in all instances.
