Next Up: vs Texans

Just saw a Dan Orlovsky clip where he talks about how the Ravens are 32nd in rushing rate on 1st and 2nd downs, while being 2nd in the league in YPC on those downs.

I really wonder what is going through Monken’s head with this play calling. I can’t believe the Ravens bring in Henry and don’t use him. The amount of times the Titans were down 14+ points with Henry and came back in games because of his wear on the defense.

Idc if running the ball results in 2 less possessions in a game if it results in a higher rate of scoring. Run the damn ball. 3 YPC in the 1st and 2nd quarters turn into 8 YPC in the 3rd and 4th with Henry. That would also give the terrible defense some more time to figure their shit out.

Not running Henry against the Cheifs was a travesty, he was getting 4-5 yards a carry, meanwhile we had no answer for their blitz. That game was atrocious and it’s simply pathetic that we get outcoached against them every single time

I wonder how many of those plays have been changed by Lamar at the LOS. Maybe not many, or maybe a lot, would be interesting to know.

Well, based on what John was saying it sounded more like it was Todd and his play calling.

They looked so good and smooth coming out of the gate. Short passes and runs that set up a nice deep shot to Flowers on PA

Based on player body language before and after each play, I think it’s safe to say it’s Todd. Plus ditto if Todd is getting blame from Harbaugh.

Looks like we're wearing the all-purples on Sunday. I'm surprised they didn't use this combination for the Rams game to keep the theme of the 2021 season going.

Also think a) you've got a small sample size still and b) if you're going to be the team that's going to run it like 75-80% on first down, teams are going to play defense against you like a team that's going to run it on 75-80% on first down. And as presently constructed, we don't have the Oline, or the RB, who is just going to get 5 yards a carry every down just because we want to.

I'm one of those people that's a big fan of first down passing, and especially, first down play action. I think balance is important, but I personally don't find like a 40% first down run rate to be that low. I understand why teams like to do it, but a 1-2 yard gain or less, on first down, when teams are the most likely to play the run defensively, pretty much puts you in a position where you won't be running again until you get another first down.

I’d rather just win the Super Bowl this year
We never will again with Harbaugh as the head coach. That’s a hill I’m willing to die on

Nate being back is wild

Does make some sense. It's an elbow injury. Petty much its either broke and you're out a bit, or its a bruise and you'll probably play through it. Stanley being back at practice is probably the bigger surprise for me.

Hamilton's injury now officially a concern. As is Awuzie.

And I can understand it completely and I’m also in favor of moving on at this point, but literally no one is going to super bowls except for the damn Cheifs

Wiggins is still small and I’m not surprised he once again hurt himself hitting someone

Almost unbelievably, Wiggins is practicing and that is such, such welcome news. Could be a coming out party for T.J. Tampa and Keyon Martin next to him.
