Again with the unseriousness. Kyle, we love you. But come on bruh, you played a huge role into the success of our 2023 defense no doubt. You and Ar'Darius played a big role in our defense turning around midseason last season. No doubt.

This season? Total dumpster fire right now. Dead last in total defense. 31st in points allowed and passing yards allowed. 30th in run defense. To call us spoiled because we have standards and this unit is not playing to the standard we want? Nah bruh...

Hey Kyle your D is ranked dead LAST in the league. I’d be very happy right now to have it ranked in the middle of the pack

Fuck you too Kyle

I'm not gonna take offense to what Kyle said because I'm sure his mentions are tenfold what he just said. Social media is terrible.

Per usual, I support when fans get taken down a beg or two.
It's week 3 folks. The NFL has been a week to week league since before any of us were born. There's no trophies being handed out for teams with the best defensive ranking after week 3, and no team has won the SB or been eliminated from the playoffs after week 3.

I personally am not taking offense to it. I could not imagine being on social media as a performer. Waves of thousands of knee jerk reactions that change your trajectory and definition on every single play. But it outlines a concern that I have with our defensive leadership in that when they're unrelatable, they're also openly judgmental of what is the likely majority, which doesn't help draw groups together which are generally closer to the latter. And having a contrarian opinion will happen, you won't always be on the side of the fence with the most supporters. But you need to at least be aware of where the numbers are when you're publicly setting the standard because your teammates will likely be on the largest side more often than not.

I think it's reasonable for fans to be upset with this defense. Money spent and supposed continuity has done nothing. It's not like we're an average defense and people are complaining. We're not doing anything right. Then the few times the plays are there to be made it feels like we still find a way to mess up. Holding the Browns to 17 was more about their own ineptitude than what the team accomplished. I'm not saying panic but these performances have been pathetic.

Should have kept McDonald , promoted him to HC and let Harbs walk.
I wouldve made him the highest paid coach in nfl for 2yrs and promised him that he was gonna be the next hc.. he probably wouldnt have accepted it but still lol. The most sure thing i knew was that our defense was gonna take a hit once he left and once we hired orr, it was guaranteed.

Saints and titans are eliminated from playoffs after week 3

I do think we will turn things around but the inexperience of orr will still hurt us. It wouldnt be as bad if we could atleast get turnovers but we cant get turnovers, sacks and we are allowing yards.. if we could get to a bend but dnt break style, thats fine but its still gonna require lamar to do a lot on his end

My frustration with fans is quite literally that they have Tourette's. They spazz out about something new every week, completely ignore what they saw the week before that, and just react to the last thing they saw. We spend an entire offseason focused on solving the issues that occurred from the last loss, regardless of whether those issues were new issues, recurring issues, etc.

Today, people are certain that the run D sucks ass. They have definitively made that statement after a fucking gigantic sample size of ONE game, against one of the best rushing teams in the league. Not a peep about run D against BUF or CLE, but all the sudden "one game is a trend" is the theme of the week. That's weird.

Recurring problems folks. That's what teams focus on, and that's what fans should focus on. What are the things that seem to be an issue week in and week out. Derrick Henry fumbling seems to be a recurring issue. Lack of a pass rush seems to be somewhat of a recurring issue. Run blocking upfront seems to be somewhat of a recurring issue (though wasn't in week 1).

Coaches are inconsistent. Players are inconsistent. Week to week what you see is different. For the good teams, the long term is all that matters.

Honestly, I'm starting to worry about career threatening injury at this point. Part of me is wondering why they are being so hush hush about this. That alone has me getting Zach Orr vibes. The second and third opinions or whatever has me thinking it must be serious serious.

I agree. They are giving the impression that it is a serious injury, likely at least season ending yet he isn’t in IR yet? Even if he will be back in 4 weeks, that move makes sense. Which is why I’m thinking it’s career ending.

Would a career ending injury give us back cap space this year?

So a) from the "reports" I've seen, including what the coaches have said, I don't think its career ending at this point. I think they're essentially determining the scope of the injury and treatment path. I don't think they've done anything because they clearly don't know yet. The "injury" is literally like 12 days old.
b) cap space would be tricky to determine if he were forced to retire (though I doubt that happens). His 2026 base salary is fully gtd. Typically, if there's a significant, long-term injury, where the player is talking retirement, you get a good 12-18 months down the road before that's a decision that's made. Don't really recall any injuries where a player got injured and then retired 12 days later.
