Week 8: Lamar, Our Hands, and The Coaching

Blah, blah, blah… there’s ebb and flow to most games, in division walkovers are rare. We hung in there playing badly in all phases, it happens. Hamilton makes the easy pick, game over, move on to next week.
Where the hell is ED REEEEEEEEED when we need him? :brickwall:

I don't really mind losing to the browns because it's a hard division game. 1-6 wasn't real, Jameis is 100 times better than Watson, Wyatt Teller might be a hof and he was back, chub was back and new play calling. I understand why we lost

only annoying part is we won't change anything. No trades that move the needle because we need to stash 4th round draft picks.

Also, it's abundantly clear to me we would have continued to be unable to move the ball if Ward then JO didn't get injured. We looked better second half, and offense is far from the issue, but those first few drives - the intensity from cle -is what we will see in the playoffs and ultimately send us packing

I think it's a really fun joke we are branded as a tough gritty team, when Cleveland Pitt and kc out tough us and whip us year after year with that style. Our defense has no fire or passion or organization.

We bully teams like the bucs and cowboys and act tough but we aren't.

These defense is dog shit and zach Orr should be fired, its the same defense that took us 6 years to heal from

We need dawgs.

It’s a mindset.

Walk with me..

What a horrible horrible pass rush today. Wtf happened? Worst line in the league we played. Jameis had time to steal crabs back there
They got burned when we lost Urban and Pierce early. We also had half a Travis Jones. Edge rushers were forced to play the run and tired out too.

Fuck it I'm just gonna say it. We need to trade our next to firsts for Crosby. If our secondary can't cover anyone to save their lives than we need to not give the qb a chance to throw the ball

I think a lot of the Browns were playing for their jobs today, and they played well, hats off to them. That said, we had the game won in the 4th, more than once. Missed passes, dropped interceptions, poor execution lost this game. I’m confident players will learn from the loss and improve.

Lamar Jackson insane stat: Jackson has never lost a regular season game following a loss to the Browns. Source: Reddit post

2018: took over as a starter week 10, beat the Browns
2019: lost to the Browns week 4, won the next 12 games and took the #1 seed
2020: beat the Browns twice
2021: lost to Browns week 14, missed the rest of the season
2022: beat the Browns once, missed weeks 14-18 and missed the second Browns match
2023: lost to the Browns week 10, won the next 6 games and took the #1 seed

I might have more thoughts later, but Orr is just not it. He reminds me way too much of Martindale with his inability to actually scheme pressure, but he'll sure as hell send the house and you bet your ass it'll be stonewalled.

I was highly critical of Madubuike as a player to re-sign in the offseason. I would have felt way better having him play on the tag. I understand that wasn't feasible from a cap standpoint, but he's not living up to that contract so far.

It's tough because the Ravens have hamstrung themselves with some rough contracts that aren't playing up to their potential. Madubuike is playing well below his contract, Roquan has looked the worst he has as a Raven, and Marcus Williams is benched. The sad thing is, this probably means the Ravens will make a trade for a defensive player or invest more heavily in the defense in the offseason.

That's a real shame because the offensive line was absolute cheeks today and might require an entire overhaul in the offseason, especially if Stanley walks. Fun...

But back to the defense for a second. It is an absolutely awful look for Ojabo to be a healthy scratch. Jeff Z speculated that it was because the Ravens were down an IDL and they needed another IDL, run stuffer. My issue here is that Ngakoue was active. He offers NOTHING as a run defender. He was recently signed off the practice squad after being an in season, off the streets signing. That's really embarrassing that Ojabo was inactive ahead of Ngakoue.

But back to the offense for a moment. I ALMOST felt like I was wrong about Bateman. I felt that the Ravens were using him in a way that suited him better lately and it seemed to be paying off. And then Bateman goes out and has this game and I'm reminded that no, he's a JAG. Always has been.

That will unfortunately change this year

He almost caused a pick six, he was terrible today. He is not good, and officially a bust being a 1st round pick
