Next Up: Vs Chargers Wild Card Round

Well damn my bad man, just making conversation lmao. I didn’t think we would actually do it, you couldn’t convince me that he wasn’t gonna be saint, steeler, or patriot. Thank fuck that’s not what happened.

And yeah I hope I can too, it’s been an extremely rough year for me and I just don’t have the focus to dive into prospects or play any forum games.
You’ll be checking out prospects anyway, even if it wasn’t for a game, but I hope this year is better for you. Sign up will start right after the super bowl

Btw, once we traded to 25 and the pats had two picks before us, I thought for sure he would end up a Patriot. Especially knowing how much McDaniels liked him,

Did you watch any of his tape. Not highlights, but actual game tape.
I watched a lot of his live games, and I liked him as a player. It’s not that I hated him or didn’t want him, but I just didn’t ever consider that we might take him. And for that reason I didn’t watch any of his game tape before the draft. I watched it after the draft though. As I do with almost every player we draft (guys from the last few rounds tend to be where I stop).

I usually only study players that are in positions of need, WRs, secondary players, guys in the trenches, LBs, etc. I watched a few QBs like Rosen and Baker but I don’t go super in depth if I don’t see us drafting them. Last year I watched a lotttt of WRs just for us to not take any of them lol.

See I really thought qb was a probability at some point so I watched all of them over and over...

Lamar and Rosen were the guys I’d watched the most tape on, Baker, darnold, Rudolph, Ferguson I’d watched a lot live and then worked my way through most of the class with at least a couple of games of each

That was a huge qb class but there’s never that many so it doesn’t really hurt to add 15 players to watch when there’s normally less than 200 potentially draftable graded players each year

Let me rephrase, I didn’t think we’d take a QB in the first round. That’s why I didn’t see us taking Lamar. I thought we might take a mid-late round QB but I didn’t care enough to watch those guys a lot lol

Fair enough - I didn’t even start watching Lamar thinking we’d draft him but mostly to see what I thought of him as a qb - and the more I watched the more I liked him and saw him as a legitimate option at the 16th pick

Yeah I definitely saw him going in the first. Someone with that kind of skill and potential shouldn’t go later than that. I guess I still thought joe could play a few more years for us at that point and that’s why I didn’t think we’d take a qb in the 1st

I’d looked at joes contract in the off-season and thought it was possible we might be looking to develop someone to challenge joe in the future

It was but Lamar is the last guy I thought we might take a shot at.
Bringing him up requires entire offensive philosophy change and I didn't think the Ravens were willing to do that. What we did offensively mid season is absolutely remarkable and all the success we had is kind of unbelievable. The most impressive coaching job in the NFL this season, in spite of some crazy play calling.

In fact the post draft story coming out from the Ravens was that Bisciotti was pretty stuck on drafting Lamar at 16 and had to be walked back from doing it by Ozzie and gang. Not sure if it is a true story but something that was out there....

Happy New Year and the Ravens New Year's resolution will be to stick the football up Phiilip Rivers' ass one more time.

I don't think this game is going to be a cakewalk. It's favorable since we are at home and the bank is likely to be packed and Cold but Gus Bradley is a really good DC.

I'm slightly worried about Hunter Henry coming back, but if we really let a TE who missed all the regular season gash us we deserve to lose.

The Chargers defense did much better against us in the second half a couple of weeks ago. We need to be prepared

If we play the way we played vs. Browns, we will beaten handily Sunday. Just really sloppy mental stuff....Ronnie Stanley should be fined for how many times he just wasn't mentally there or showed insufficient effort in crunch time.

One thing that is encouraging is that we played one of our worst games and still won. Can’t bank on that but I think we come out Sunday a lot more focused and prepared.

My biggest worry i think about for this game is that getting back to the playoffs after 4 years and especially the way the season ended last year and the similarities this year i really worry about whether the emotional high of getting in and winning the division impacts this game this week

On the flip side: now that the team has finally gotten the proverbial "monkey off its back" from the past few seasons, maybe things get easier for them. Now they don't have to worry about blowing games because they know they can come through in the clutch and they've already conquered plenty of adversity this season. I feel like it could be reminiscent of the 2012 season because when we finally reached the SB, I had no doubts about whether or not we would beat the Niners; we went through so much shit that season that NO team was going to stand in our way when we finally made it to the big game. Not saying that this team will accomplish the same thing, but I think it's possible we might see them play even better in the playoffs than they have been over the second half of the season.

I just want to win man more than likely we go play Brady if we win and man oh man do I think we match up well with them but I'm just happy to be in the playoffs it's nice to be relevant again

Melvin Gordon (ankle) says he'll play vs. BAL

Melvin Gordon (ankle) confirmed he's playing in Sunday's Wild Card game against the Ravens.

"Yuuup," Gordon said when asked if he'll play in Baltimore. Gordon injured his ankle late in the Week 17 game against the Broncos. He's less than 100% due to ankle and knee issues, so Gordon's workload could be scaled back a bit.
