Forgive a loaded question, but how do you reconcile that belief with a libertarian ideology that opposes mandated sick leave? Honestly just curiousNo, it absolutely shouldn’t be.

My point is, that is your opinion.
Many will agree with you many won't.
You cannot use these examples in the context we've been discussing with straight face, can you?Okay fine.
I don't like dogs.
I don't like tall people.
I don't like christians.
I don't democrsts.
I don't like desiel motors.
I don't like creamy peanut butter.
Where do we draw the line ? Who draws it?

People's health shouldn't be a bargaining chip.
Me as well. Trump is a pompous assholeI’m conservative and don’t like him one bit. I’m not liberal is what I’m saying.
Outside all the concessions for show that the Chinese have made (and nearly all of them have been purely for show), there's also stuff like Ivanka mysteriously getting patents granted before big visits. This is why presidents (usually) put their holdings in a blind trust and why it's such an important issue. No-one has an issue with rich people being presidents, but having active interests while in office is murky at best. And that's before you get into the way companies' stock prices fluctuate with Trump's tweets.what i find hilarious is that the chinese told trump he was getting a "state visit plus" but obama only got a "state visit" - tells me they knew how to play him instantly and you know what? he fell for it instantly and bragged about it despite the fact that their visits were almost certainly identical

My family is full of 1%ers and we hate the tax bill. Big problem in this country is that each party is moving towards the extremes. This is just an example. I’m more to the right than left but that bill was facepalm worthy at best. This sums up the thread petty much perfectly. For all the talk of whether Trump's a racist or a great guy or just a partial racist (which is about an important a discussion as "who was the best president ever?") net neutrality seems to be on the way out and Trump's latest budget has an 11% cut in R&D funding for AI (imagine a US president cutting funding to NASA during the Cold War), which are both huge issues for the 21st century and no-one's talking about that. And the shitshow of a tax bill has had minimal discussion (and even less edifying discussion), which is a shame since the GOP's had a gift-wrapped opportunity to make much-needed tax reform that could leave lasting benefits for the US and the rest of the world - which can include cutting taxes for the rich as long as it's done smartly.
As bad as things with the NHS over there are, it's a reminder that the healthcare clusterfuck could always be worse. What I never understood was people over here rooting for the Republicans' overhaul of the ACA - everyone in every other developed economy is living in a better system that's cheaper on everyone and has better outcomes and Trump himself has praised the single-payer system several times.which is what i find so crazy about the partisan nature of healthcare in the US
i only recently discovered that holiday and sick leave weren't really culturally normal in the US when around the world its accepted as an intrinsic part of being in a workforce

I'm just glad those disgusting zero-hour contracts haven't taken off over here.
Yup. It's funny. Polling data shows 72 percent of Marylanders support it but our dumbass governor Hogan vetoed it. What a great guy! Loves working families! Does so much for the middle class!
An employer offers a job with a specific compensation package. If you feel sick leave is important to you and the compensation package does not include sick leave, forget that job and find one that offers sick leave. There is no need to involve the government.
But yeah I’d have to agree here. Barring something ungodly trump isn’t going anywhere. This sums up the thread petty much perfectly. Any defense of the GOP tax plan yet? Giving tax breaks for jet owners but not teachers who buy school supplies? Nobody hates it?
Congrats again guys for defending the party of the aristocrats and opposing the party of real working Americans.
By the way, if we had a flat tax, both income inequality AND the national debt would be immensely worse off. Flat tax sounds great in theory but in practice it's a fucking trainwreck. That's the thing about Libertarianism. Sounds nice as an ideology but it has never ever worked as a framework for a functioning society.
Taking a job with or without sick leave is a choice to be made by each individual. Nobody is forced to take a job without sick leave. As far as matters involving compensation, government should not be involved.but no one can predict illnesses/injuries... you shouldnt be more expendable as an employee for something out of your control - and there would be no need to involve the government if it was already in law![]()
Again, as I said, sick leave should not be a bargaining chip. A lot of people can't just "find a job that offers sick leave." Are you serious? "Yeah, just find one that has sick leave. They're out there. Just look harder."An employer offers a job with a specific compensation package. If you feel sick leave is important to you and the compensation package does not include sick leave, forget that job and find one that offers sick leave. There is no need to involve the government.
Hey democrats. Please run a moderate in 2020. I’ll vote for him/her. I’ll do it. Plz. I’m begging you. Or just dethrone Trump as President and run someone decent on the right not named Ted Cruz
I think it was her not being truthful about her background, but I don't think we should use an isolated incident that was caught on camera to prove he's not racist when he's been sued quite a bit by his minority workers. And?
This didn't happen?
They could not come to terms?
She received a better offer elsewhere?
She called in sick on her first day ?
There are multiple possibilities.
Fact. She is black.
Fact. She received some sort of job offer.
I don't think racist do those sorts of things.
