2025 NFL Draft General Discussion

so many national media mocks that are just grossly underestimating how high some guys are gonna go

like the most recent Eric Edholm one on NFL.com:

Mykel Williams, Donovan Ezeiruaku, Josh Simmons and Walter Nolen were all available at pick 28
i think we'd be elated if any of those guys were available at 27 let alone all of them

don't see mykel or nolen getting out of the top 20, simmons is a wild card but apparently his knee has checked out fine (which means he might go top 15 ultimately) and ezeiruaku could be there, but he could also potentially go top 20
I had Ezeiruaku available at 27 for us in the brief Mock I did. Although he could easily go sooner. Tampa maybe ?

I had the other 3 off the board by pick 17. Would be staggered if they got anywhere near us.

Simmons at 13 to Miami
Mykel at 9 to the Saints
Nolen at 17 to Bengals

A couple of insiders mocks based on what they're hearing:

Peter Schrager had these options for us at 27:

Josh Simmons
Will Johnson (!!!!)
Shemar Stewart
Malaki Starks
Donovan Ezeiruaku (didn't appear in the 1st round at all)
Derrick Harmon (didn't appear in the 1st round at all)

In Benjamin Allbright's mock, he had these options for us at 27:

Donovan Ezeiruaku (also didn't appear in the 1st round at all...)
Derrick Harmon (also didn't appear in the 1st round at all...)
Will Johnson (!!! didn't appear in the 1st round at all - feels like there's some smoke with his injury issues and lack of testing with long speed questions)
Shemar Stewart
Malaki Starks

RE: Harmon and Ezeiruaku... because it's strange that 2 insiders have them both not even inside the top 32 picks - i wonder if there's a medical red flag or something that's got them dropping, or maybe team's are being so silent on them because they're clean prospects and they want them and the insiders don't know what to do with that silence

no one's 100% right on these mocks but i think it's notable that 5 of the 6 prospects were available in both mocks...

we'll see what DJ's one looks like tomorrow i guess...

I saw a tweet on Johnson earlier that there's some concern his knee is going to need some work and he might not even be able to play this season

oh wow
that would be quite a fall for a guy that a year ago was being touted as a top 5 pick and until recently was still being regarded as a top 15 guy

I would be happy with any of those guys tbh. In order probably

Starks
Ezeiruaku
Simmons
Harmon
Stewart

But there is really little in it amongst the first 4. Would be more than happy with any of those guys.

Johnson I would want to be sure how bad his injuries were. If he is good to go he's at the top if not he's at the bottom.

Does anyone have a favorite. I'm having a very difficult time narrowing it down and that's because I'd be happy with so many different options in round one.

So far I compiled a small list of #SIIE candidates based on what folks told me awhile back:

-Derrick Harmon

-Tyler Booker

-Landon Jackson

-Walter Nolen

-Grey Zabel

DJ’s mock.

He got the plug. And picked Wiggins for us last year. Hate this pick. How screwed are we? Lol

The Ravens won't pass on Campbell if he's on the board. That said, I'd be happy with Grant. Reminds me of Pierce when he was young.
Campbell is only at 32 there because of poor medicals though. A healthy version of him? I agree 100%. Medicals make all things questionable.

with all the information coming out this week, i'm just finding it hard to work out who's actually going to be available...

malaki starks feels like the safe option if i were a betting man...

landon jackson not at 27 but if we somehow got him later then sure

walter nolen or derrick harmon is the dream i think

can't get behind grant at 27 - he's a great prospect but he offers you rotational snaps with no immediate 3rd down usage - feels hard to justify that in the first round unless you're chasing a freak prospect like jordan davis (who notably has not been as dominant as expected despite the eagles superbowl win)

just feels tough to draft a NT in R1 if it's not Vita Vea...

completely agree with you on campbell though - if he falls because of a labrum issue that's probably been fixed, then thank you to all the teams that let a top 10 prospect in the class fall to us...
