2025 NFL Draft General Discussion

i think these are my (somewhat) realistic ideal options at the first 3 picks:

At 27:
Walter Nolen, DL
Donovan Ezeiruaku, EDGE
Donovan Jackson, Josh Simmons (if he falls), OL

At 59:
Aireontae Ersery, Marcus Mbow, OL
Landon Jackson, Bradyn Swinson, EDGE
Darius Alexander, Joshua Farmer, DL
Carson Schwesinger, LB

At 91 (harder to gauge who's realistic here):
Jordan Phillips, Shemar Turner, DL
Anthony Belton, Wyatt Milum, OL
Andrew Mukuba, S
Josaiah Stewart, EDGE

Things i'm starting to feel in terms of setting up the board and where the ravens sit in the order for each position:

As a general trenches thought - there's a lot of guys on both trenches this year missing basic benchmarks with length or athleticism which complicates the projections (and maybe limits the ceilings) - there's a lot of guys with good looking tape on day 3 who are going to be day 3 picks because they're arm lengths are way below teams minimum thresholds at the positions

EDGE
if we don't get an edge in the first 2 rounds, the board may look pretty empty when we come to pick in R3 (reminds me a bit of what the OL board looked like last year) - there's depth in the class but not a ton of guys who scream "raven" to me

DL
DL is stacked in basically every round with guys of all different types/styles - obviously you don't want to pass over a great talent just because you might be able to get a DL later, but if we miss out on a DL early, there will be opportunities to add talent in basically every round

LB
There's a lot of athletes in this group, not a ton of obvious 3 down contributors outside of Jihaad Campbell. Some guys who are interesting probably from R3 onwards. Would not be surprised if we picked someone in R4 at LB (if we don't get campbell or schwesinger).

DB
value at CB seems to mismatch with where the ravens pick, safety seems to be much more accessible especially in R1 (although i think they'll be better players available at other positions) and R3

WR
i wouldn't be shocked if there's a WR who's BPA when we're picking in R3/4 - especially given the clear range of opinions on some of these guys (quite a few fit the profiles of our current WR group which is nice if we're looking for WR4 types to step in if one of the top 3 guys has to sit for a while)

TE + RB
this TE class is stacked - there's 3 guys who could (and maybe should) go in R1, and once you get to R3 and beyond, there's talented TE prospects of all different flavours in every round
the RB class is similar to the TE group

OL
I like a lot of these guys in the first 2 rounds, and a couple of guys into the 3rd round (if they make it there) - there's some options on day 3 - seems like a pretty normal OL class - day 3 options of guys with lots of starts at solid programs but low-end athletic traits, guys from small schools, guys with outlier measurables, guys with athleticism but clearly projects - OT is pretty bare beyond day 2, IOL is a lot deeper

QB
QB is a mess of a group in terms of starting potential guys - but a lot of the guys being discussed as potential early picks to have the look of decent backup prospects - if any of them fall to day 3 (unlikely given the desperation of some teams) i'd be very ok with pulling the trigger on some/any of those guys in R4 to sit and develop as a QB3 and potentially as a future QB2... Milroe's the most obvious one (also the least likely to fall out of day 2 given the athletic tools), but Shough and Leonard would be interesting options for the ravens specifically if they made it to day 3

I love Mukuba. I wouldnt blink if we take him with our 2nd.

Ravens are really doing their due diligence on traeshon holden

had a formal interview at the combine
and have brought/are bringing him in for a private workout also

had an arrest at oregon in 2023
was ejected for spitting in 2024

im guessing that's the stuff they're checking out but interesting that they've decided they need to spend this much time on him - on some level they must be intrigued by him

My gut says mykel Williams is the big “faller” and he is our pick

ive seen a number of pundits say he'd be a classic fall to the ravens type
but there's also so much smoke around a bunch of EDGE guys in the 8-20 range - i could definitely see the EDGE board get wiped out well before we pick

with williams, if that did happen - i wouldnt hate it, wouldnt love it either

in terms of our best case scenario

on my board, we'd need 13 non-1st round graded guys to get picked before 27 to get a true bona fide 1st round talent (14 if we assume mike green's off the ravens board and doesn't get picked before 27, which seems unlikely so let's just assume it's 13)

it would be a lot more likely that happens if 3 QBs and 2 RBs go in the top 26 picks

Josh Simmons and Walter Nolen are the two most likely candidates i have those big grades on who could fall (based on consensus right now)

if the full 14 are all gone, the hope would be that one of Derrick Harmon or Donovan Ezeiruaku fall down as the guys at the top of the next grade cluster

feels probable that all 4 of those guys are gone when we get to 27

We hosted Ryan Fitzgerald

There’s a bit of a logjam of edge guys from mid 1 to end of 1, with a huge range of where they can go, Williams seems like the most likely of them that could fall in my opinion

sure
it just seems like he's exactly the style of EDGE that the panthers, falcons, cardinals, packers would all be very interested in, maybe the bengals too
