End of the Bar Does Not Care, John Harbaugh

It's just refreshing to see effort towards making the team better. Under Harbaugh, you could see there was never any effort. Yeah uh my sister said I should hire Todd so I did. Made a huge mistake on Orr and wouldnt correct it. Got Warhop as a stopgap but then didn't upgrade on him. I mean there was pure loyalty and complacency.

Minter clearly is coming in with high effort.
Harbaugh interviewed about 8 - 10 coaches for the ravens offensive coordinator job in 2023. Painting it like his sister informed him to hire Todd Monken so he did is kind of making it seems like Harbaugh had low effort in this process which to me doesn't make sense especially when the Ravens currently interviewed much less candidates this year for the OC job . Monken may have been a suggestion by Harbaugh sister but it was a great hire . Monken legit helped Lamar have back to back MVP season and the ravens offense in 2024 rivaled the greatest show on turf under his guidance. That might not happen again even with Declan Doyle calling plays..

the actual story is that he had a committee group put together and run by Anthony Weaver to identify candidates
Todd Monken was not on the list of guys from that group but was added after the suggestion by his sister who called him a great coach

not saying it wasn't a good hire

Bro had a committee and then hired someone totally off the radar because his sister suggested it.

People can say Todd was best for the job, but it's likely he did just fine and Harbs was influenced by his sister. That guy is influenced by his family more than anyone I've ever seen lol

You don’t really believe this, do you?
It is a fact there was a committee. Todd was not on the radar. His sister suggested they interview him. They interviewed him.

Now it is my opinion, that the process of actually hiring him was absolutely influenced by his sister. You'll say that's so stupid blah blah blah but Johm Harbaugh is not a hard book to read

That’s a bit different than saying Harbaugh hired Monken because his sister suggested it. lol

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
His sister’s husband was the basketball coach at Georgia and they had intimate knowledge of Monk and the great job he was doing at Georgia. She suggested they take a look at him and he was interviewed by the committee which selected him. That’s my opinion and no matter what you believe about Harbaugh, to me that seems like the more reasonable explanation. If you want to say in that regard it means the hire was influenced by his sister I can agree with that.

What you said is 100% true. My opinion is a bit farther but not extreme.

I don't think Harbaugh mandated that they hire Todd because of his sister.

However, I really do believe that when Todd had a good interview, John fell in love with the idea of his family helping him fill the position

That's cool but the truth still remains that the ravens still interviewed about 13 candidates before they hired Todd Monken. It wasn't like John Harbaugh and staff was sitting on their butts before his sister reached out suggesting Monken. Seems like that's what was being suggested which to me I disagree with. I just can't see how a coach is apart of the interview process of 13 candidates but the effort is consider low compared to the interview process this year which didn't even come close to 13 candidates being interviewed. But I get it though given that Declan Doyle is 29 years old and consider really smart along with working with some of the better offensive coaches in the league in Sean Payton and Ben Johnson which gives off the vibe that the ravens really dig deep with this hire . We are fans and I get it this all just entertainment for us at the end of the day and we tend gravity to what's the most entertaining even at the cause of ignoring truth at times. It is what is .

You're fixated on one single hire. He was here for 18 years and was ridiculously loyal and very often complacent with his hires. In 18 years he didnt even have one OC hire that was like Doyle

closest he got was nearly hiring kyle shanahan until gary kubiak became available

no he didn't, but Monken and Kubiak worked out really well. Both times he had to go out of the box for it to work.
For some reason he didn't want to hire Shanahan that year and Kyle went to Cleveland. Then Dennison, who he hired as a QB coach after Kubiak and his staff were fired by Texans, tipped Kubiak's interest to him.

Shanahan already took the Browns job when Kubiak showed his interest. Everybody just assumed Kubiak was out of coaching after the health scare. Turned out he didn't want a HC role until the opportunity for treason emerged.
almost like he hired OC's who wouldn't be gone in a year and even though it happened with Kubiak, he didn't anticipate Kubiak wanting a head coach role. I thought they interviewed Kyle Shanahan, but that was before I was heavily involved with the Ravens. It was only around mid season 2014 that I became a ravens fan.

I think he just requested to interview Jim Harbaugh's QB coach. Always seems to keep it in the family and on defense that worked most of the time, until it didn't.

They did interview Kyle for two days and told him "we'll be in touch".
