End of the Bar Does Not Care, John Harbaugh

The argument is that finding a DC is easier than an OC. So hiring a head coach that was an OC might be the better move and just replacing Orr with whoever they choose.

I want an offensive minded coach who either keeps Monken but takes over in certain situations or maybe gives Tee Martin a shot at OC which is not likely since he will most likely want to bring his own guys. I like Tee Martin alot and I am not sure why lol
I like Tee Martin also

For whatever team he goes too, they better hope Harbaugh gets better at making a staff. It was always his biggest weakness. Post SB the only standouts were Kubiak and MacDonald.

i think Orr is the first DC to seemingly not ever put it together
Wink's defence became tired but some of those seasons before that defence got found out were magic
all the previous DCs were pretty consistently good-to-great - Mattison, Pagano and Pees were all good hires i think

OC has been a bigger problem for sure - Kubiak the standout, but Roman was a good hire (harbs just kept him on for too long), Monken was a good hire too i think

the problem with Harbs and coordinators has always been that the good ones are going to get poached on both sides of the ball which over the long-term means you won't have stability - the ravens tried to overcome that by having an organisational pipeline on defence and schematic principles and hiring internally but it still relies on having that pipeline - and it seems like they either picked the wrong horse when Mike Macdonald left, or that pipe finally ran dry

It probably needed to happen. They've had, I believe 4 playoff wins since 2014.

But I still feel sad. We had some great times with Harbaugh. This is the end of an era.

or that the OC we hired was only part of the coaching search because his sister happened to suggest him on a phone call
I do not remember hearing any stories about Harbs family being behind any Ravens choices. And I used to keep a very close eye on this team.

So that's interesting...

Welp, best of luck to Harbaugh. This had to be done unfortunately. I do believe the reports that Harbaugh was planning on holding onto Monken and Orr. The losses have been too painful the past couple of years.

Absolutely. Best of luck to Harbs, but his well has run dry here so to speak. Moreover, I could possibly be OK with Monken staying on as long as the new HC would be adamant about overruling his game plan in real time. Orr has to go...period.

i do appreciate Harbaugh and am thankful for him. He’s a good coach, a dick, and I think arrogant but I still liked how he got the guys to fight even when it seemed unlikely. I will miss that the most because our games were always competitive. It’s also admittedly a bit scary to be without him since he’s been here so long.

But as we’ve said all season, the message seem stale and it seems time for a change for both us and him. I wish him the best and hope he goes to the NFC.

Mattison was not a good hire. That defense was very talented and experienced but schematically it was a mess. 09-10 under mattison was where the 4th quarter meltdowns began. They disappeared up until 2014.

Harbaugh did a good job. You don't last 18 years otherwise.

He's a good coach, but we're seeing fewer coaches that are the "CEO" type. Harbaugh isn't going to bring any sort of schematic advantage. His success is very reliant on hiring good coordinators.

The public perception of Harbaugh is glowing. The sentiment is the Ravens made a mistake. I'm sure he will have a new job real soon. Let's see how he looks without Lamar... Looking at the coaching openings, I don't know that he;s going to win big in any of those destinations. one thing is for sure, he is a splashy hire. Vegas or NYG I think

He could do a good job in Vegas. Not sure how his religious stuff with go there but yeah lol. Maybe it’s what Vegas needs.

But he could bring a good culture to the Raiders

This did feel like a change was needed but you won't see me say one bad thing about Harbs.

He's the best thing that happened to this franchise and this fanbase has been spoiled with him. This is one of the most respected and influential coach of the last decade and you don't keep one of the biggest job in sports for 18 years out of friendships and luck.

All the "he won because he inherited Ed and Ray" talk infuriates me like nothing else. I'll leave it at that.

Anyways thanks Harbs, you're the GOAT. It is probably a good time to move on but it doesn't mean we're upgrading.
