End of the Bar Does Not Care, John Harbaugh

But that's who he is. Both of those things. Hes good a keeping floor high and pretty dang bad at getting to the ceiling.

Even with high end rosters

When's the last time you were confident we'd win in a close game?

im not saying i dont agree with the premise
just that the stats aren't actually telling you that

more a criticism of the reddit post than the idea itself

If John Harbaugh is still the Head Coach of this team next season......... I'm becoming a Seahawks fan until Harbaugh is fired. I hope Mike Macdonald wins the Super Bowl now so it makes everyone in the building look foolish for letting him walk.

Not fired yet?

I'm not saying he will or will not be fired, since this is hearsay from people that are clued in but not the ultimate decision makers...

Harbaugh wants to keep coaching, but there are no guarantees that is here. Sounds like there will (or may already have been) a meeting of the minds to discuss how to move forward. If Harbaugh stays, it's likely to be with a ton of new faces around him on staff.

My guy thinks they'd be much more steadfast in moving on if there was a better pool of candidates, but they aren't overly enamored with anyone.

That’s how I see it too. I don’t see any slam dunk candidates. I do like Minter but not much else beyond him. No real offensive coordinator standouts who make you demand them this year.

Btw what’s your source say about when he would be fired if that’s the decision? I’d assume very quickly

I wouldn't expect any firm deadline. If they make the decision, they'll make it when they see fit. They obviously aren't going to sit on their hands and let guys pass them by, but they also don't really have much of a reason to make a move today. They'll be aggressive but patient if that makes sense.

i mean there were 2 big obvious candidates last year: Ben Johnson and Mike Vrabel
but it's not like Liam Coen was an obviously great HC candidate

not much difference between a guy like Coen and guys like Klint Kubiak

and the only way you get candidates as good as Ben Johnson are if they choose to stay as coordinators a year extra longer than you'd expect

Yeah I just can’t see it being any later than this week. Only reason it could be is if we’re working a trade. Steve doesn’t seem like he waits. He seems like he is decisive and quick so I’d be surprised if it’s longer than Friday

BB and Pats mutually parted ways on the Thursday after the season ended
Pete Carroll and Seahawks had him "step down" on the Wednesday after the season ended
Sean Payton retired from the Saints on the Tuesday 2 weeks after the season ended

i'd say there's no incredible rush to move on from Harbs right away (if they're going to do it) because they can't even interview any of the playoff coaches (except for the 1 seeds e.g. Klint Kubiak)

I don’t disagree. I mean, Harbaugh himself was not a hot candidate and that worked out well.

Just feels like the victim of the weird year where no team really stood out and thus, no candidate

also lots of the best offences have offensive HCs calling the plays so it adds some questions about their OCs

the OCs of the best offences:
Mike LaFleur - doesnt call plays (albeit does have 2 years as a playcaller for the Jets 2021-2022 - which sucked, but also was Zach Wilson's era)
Klint Kubiak
Klayton Adams - doesnt call plays, 1st year OC
Josh McDaniels
Joe Brady
John Morton - called plays, had playcalling duties taken off him by Dan Campbell, (also had experience as Jets OC in 2017 and was fired)
Declan Doyle - doesnt call plays, 1st year OC
Grant Udinski - doesnt call plays, 1st year OC

taken as a whole, there's only really 3 guys (maybe 4) that have the scheme and playcalling experience behind them and 1 of them is Josh McDaniels who's definitely not a HC candidate

so on the offensive side of things you're looking at Joe Brady, Klint Kubiak and Mike LaFleur

there are more interesting names on the defensive side of the ball for sure

Good luck in the future John Harbaugh and thanks for the good years. But your time here is done and frankly eveything from the D, coaching techniques to the play calling has become stale and obvious to other teams.
