End of the Bar Does Not Care, John Harbaugh

I like Saleh a ton. My only reason I'd be a little down is he has 2 Super Bowl loses to mahomes with a far better defensive pass rush. Doesn't fix a lot of our problems but he was 100% unfairly judged on the shit jets just like Rodger's.

Minter I might be okay with but want something perhaps more fresh. Would we go college route? Lanning cig and freeman is all be alright with but I don't want lag for them developing. We need someone who can beat Andy Reid.

you're not going to get a guy straight out of college to be the HC here
you might be able to pull someone from college to be a coordinator but not to operationally take over the franchise unless they've already done it

minter's the sexy young thing option on the defensive side of things
klint kubiak on the offensive side of things

How does coaching contracts work? If a coach has 1 more year on his contract, there is no opting out right? Would have to get traded or fired?

Agreeded. I think there's no way he signs an extension if we keep harbs. He will say have fun eating my 75 mil and I'm going to rest up, which he should.
Well, couple things:
1. Lamar isn't a UFA until 2028, so regardless of what he wants, he's stuck here for two more years.
2. Based on reports from awhile ago, the Ravens, like most teams, have automatic restructure language in their contracts, which allows them to convert salary to bonus and prorate. So they can lower Lamar's cap hit next year significantly without his consent.
3. Lamar having a high cap hit doesn't really do anything for him if his goal is to win games. All that does is decrease the possibility of the team putting a better group of players around him to win.
4. Based on some of the mobility issues I've seen this year, I wouldn't be so sure that Lamar hitting UFA at 31 is a massive "win" for him if teams think they'll really just be getting the "pocket passer" Lamar vs the guy who's mobility allows him to extend plays, which is where he's deadliest. We all know that even the most mobile of QBs eventually hit a point where that mobility declines, and it'll certainly be on his next contract.
5. Not a huge factor, but Lamar is owed $52M each year over the next two years. Not a small amount by any stretch, by $52M AAV is back-end top 10 QB $ right now. So if I were him, I'd be looking to get a raise. Only way to do that realistically is with an extension.

I think uncertainty at HC MAY have an impact on what he decides to do or not do in 2026, but by 2027, not sure it matters at all.

Pretty much yes. You can quit/retire, get fired, or get traded.
In my opinion, the coaches contract is irrelevant. Really never seen or heard of Owners being unwilling to fire a coach because he has X years left or X $ left. Pretty sure Mark Davis is still paying like 4 HCs simultaneously right now, and he's long been considered one of the "broker" league Owners around.

I'd honestly love to trade harbaugh. Then he doesn't get fired which like dean pees I'm sure he cares about deeply, we could probably easily get a second maybe even a first for him.

We always talk about our team being on the wrong side of the message but I think it's applicable to him too. No doubt in my mind anywhere he ends up he will make the team way better and rebuild a program. He's an incredible coach, it's just time for us both to try and do things different. Ship him to the cardinals that's a match made in heaven.

Reminds me of the Andy Reid situation from philly

Im just asking cause i believe shanhan has one more year left but its no way niners dont resign him

I think we have to go after a coach thats experienced and is basically ready to win within 2 seasons. Idk if it is, but with lamar injuries this season, window could be possibly closing. Its really no time for experiments at the coaching position. With the lack of offense production in every playoff game, we are likely gonna bring in or should bring in someone who we think is an offensive guru.

Robert Saleh
Klint Kubiak
Brian Flores

Those are the only one's I can think of that might make sense

I don't see the excitement between those three. Good coordinators though. Flores may have learned from his mistakes from his previous head coach job with the dolphins but for some reason coaches from Bill Belchick coaching trees seem to always fail as head coaches. I don't think Klint Kubiak offense fits Lamar . I dont have much to say about Robert Saleh but his previous offensive coordinator hires were uninspiring. I guess he and Flores only make sense if the ravens make it important to keep Todd Monken .

So a) its possible it's somebody completely off the radar, and b) I'd be somewhat disappointed if it's not an offensive-minded HC. I actually think its not overly difficult to find quality DC's in this league.

If you hire somebody like Flores or Saleh, at least half of their success is going to be tied directly to what kind of OC they can convince to come work with them. If they whiff on that, what they do on D won't matter that much.

This is the legacy of the last 5 years of Harbs tenure

Clutching defeat from the jaws of victory over and over again

Consistently coaching teams that are mentally and situationally weak and full of panic and mistakes in big moments

definitely time for a change

well and there's no way they'd fire him either, so it doesn't really matter.
Would be a damn dream. Should look into his staff. I'd rather an offensive coach as well but whoever it is would rather them have some impact on either side than a "managerial" type.

From my understanding, what made McDonald effective is his ability to teach his methods to the players. That's what I want from my next HC. Saleh is definitely in that class, but I don't know about Kubiak.

What if the scrambling concern future is now? Watching Lamar Jackson this year, even from the first game, he's looked a step slow. Against the Bill's he had 70 rushing yards. That was his high water mark for the year. The Chiefs game was his second most rushing yards with 48 and he went out of the game injured while running. He's got 6500 career yards running. This year his running production was down substantially. That said, he's a better thrower now than he ever was. He throws a better ball now, though his completion percentage did drop this year. Michael Vick wasn't the same come 29 years old. There's a Sports Illustrated story out about Jackson's game, injuries and prognosis. He's taken a lot of lower body and leg trauma and missed a good deal of time. Harbaugh says he's out with a back contusion. What is a "back contusion". I thought a contusion was a bruise. I just think the future is now and Lamar Jackson, like he has done this year, must now be more of a drop back passer. We need a change in coaching for this. A quarterback whisperer. An offensive coach from this era. A head coach from this era. A new General Manager that focuses on the modern game. It would be a little painful, but we've spun our wheels when we should have won and this season is the most painful in this period.

Does Harbaugh not know any other facial expressions? When Michigan or something other team has to see this every week next year, I'll be happy.
