The more serious this hip injury appears to be, the more likely that he may just call it quits. He's made more money than anyone of us can imagine, he's achieved beyond what most NFL QBs have and there comes a time when your health and well being down the road dictates your time is up. It is not hard to imagine that he would see himself there.

I know we'd all love to get a pick for him, but really, if he does bow out, he becomes one of those rare and commendable single team players. He's no HOFer, but he's high up in the Ravens ring of honor.
I honestly still believe that he will retire after this season regardless of hip injury. That is if we cut him or trade him

Flacco was seeing a hip doctor today just to be CLEARED for PRACTICE. I think we still go with Lamar against Atlanta but against the Chiefs, we could see Joe back in the lineup depending on what the doctor says.

Well we better have time consuming scoring drives that are mostly runs against the Chiefs. Gotta keep Mahommes and their offense off the field.

That means Lamar is the better QB for K.C.

This Falcons game is a classic trap game and Matty Fail will always get pumped up for the Ravens. I hate Matty Ice!!

Flacco needs to play on sunday if they're planning to start him vs the chiefs. Flacco probably needs a game to get back into shape.
I know most of us have the chiefs as a L but to stand at least a chance we need to start fast and I don't see it if this is Flacco's first game fresh off an injury.
But I'm still team start Lamar.

I think the QB decision comes down to who gives the team more options. Lamar is limited, to some extent, by his playbook because his playbook is likely smaller than Joe's, but Joe's playbook is likely limited in certain ways by his hip injury (i.e. less moving pockets/roll outs). Without actually knowing where everything is at within the organization as far as installations and injury news, my gut says Lamar probably is the safer option at this point since we've gotten a pretty good feel of where he is at right now. Atlanta definitely has some vulnerability on defense (run and pass) that Lamar has the talent to exploit.

This is definitely a game that could get out of hand quickly with how much talent Atlanta has on offense, so I think this game is probably going to come down to how well the defense can prevent giving up big plays and getting off the field on 3rd Down. There have been a lot of encouraging signs from Jimmy and Humphrey the past couple weeks, so this could go better than expected imo. Hopefully Tavon is back as well.

I think it's close and ugly, and Atlanta benefits from an extra couple days of rest that the Ravens don't have, but I still think that they grind this one out.

Ravens 23, Falcons 20.

The #Ravens plan to start Lamar Jackson against the #Falcons this Sunday, sources say. Joe Flacco (hip) has not been cleared as of now. There’s a chance that could change in the coming days but right now, Jackson remains the starter per Garofalo.
This is a clever way to say nothing has changed as of now.

zrebiec's tweet expanding on this:

"This will remain case until Flacco is able to get at least full week of practice in. At this point, he hasn’t been on field for 3 1/2 weeks."

---> i think that's your roadmap for flacco never getting the job back without an overt qb controversy - flacco doesnt get rushed back and has to practice a whole week not just a little
---> on top of that he has to be medically cleared by the non-team hip specialist before this can even happen

if im honest if lamar wins in atlanta there's no way flacco's back for KC tbh and maybe not ever...

I will say it again - there is zero reason Flacco should ever start another game for the Ravens. That’s just taking 2 steps back.

Just searching the Falcons forum to see what they are saying and came across the thread about Lamar starting on Sunday.

"Flacco would have been a tougher matchup. If we can shut down the run game, that’ll force Jackson to throw, which is his weakness."

Right.... his "weakness". Ok then. Anyone want to go spam this thread with gifs of that deep pass to Hurst from last week?

haha to be fair to them on the thread - all bar 1 of them has said jackson scares them more than flacco lol and most have corrected the guy who said that (albeit none of them have got into those specifics lol)
