The 2023 Offseason Thread

one concern I now have…. Linderbaum. That dude was tailor made for Roman’s offense and whoever we hire better know how to use an Uber athletic but undersized center

he's been great at targeting and massively overhauling parts of our roster each year
the problem has been that sometimes that's been at the expense of other positions
Fuck it.. fix this WR corps FINALLY and surround Lamar and the new OC with toys at the expense of another group

I think we het a big name wr idk how we will be able to afford it but by the way EDC that's the impression I get.

especially given this was the first time someone's asked him about draft picks and he hasnt said that we'd like to acquire more picks

clearly thinks we have other more important avenues to improve the roster this offseason - think he's clearly happy with the 20 guys we added the last 2 years

which says a lot given how much he loves the draft

Even mentioned the successful draft in the past where we only had 4 picks lol. Possible change in philosophy?

i mean ironically, we all thought that Roman's offence would be one of the worst for him - hence why he was so low on a bunch of our boards this offseason

we all thought he'd be a ZBS nightmare but he's shown he's a monster in power/gap schemes too

i dont think we should have any concerns about Lindy

and im not against that - defence is loaded enough at multiple positions that it's not gonna be a disaster of a unit even if we dont make tons of additions

im not averse to adding a couple of WRs and bargain shopping at DL, EDGE, RB, CB etc. to fill out this roster

Well tbf I was always high on linderbaum, I let you drag down my opinion on him lol. But I thought he’d be good for the exact reasons that he has been good for us, he’s not an anchor but a mover. I’m just hoping the new OC doesn’t try to relegate him to just anchoring the middle of the OL because that’s not his game.

Especially since we're only like 2-3 players from being one of the top teams in the league. Trade picks for proven players.

Aside from the Lamar stuff, it was interesting to hear DeCosta's thoughts on our low draft picks. Almost like he doesn't care this year because we've picked so many the last 2 years and can't give them all contracts.

think we're now seeing why he wanted all those picks the last 2-3 years
said we've been preparing for this offseason for the last 3-4 years with the cap

dont think it's a change in philosophy

think it's pragmatism and also that it's not an unexpected challenge given that they've planned for basically all of this other than the Roquan trade

he'd clearly love to have more draft picks
but not gonna sweat it this year

So Eric says he won't have a big draft or FA.
Probably not on the Jags’ level last offseason but I think he’s going to be aggressive

very few run schemes ask for a C not to move or be mobile
and i dont think any OC is gonna look at Lindy and not think he's a weapon to be utilised in some exciting ways - not like that type of C hasnt been around in the league for ages - Jason Kelce's a 5 time all-pro...
