The 2023 Offseason Thread

My final guess pending no unknown injuries or anything like that. As always, this is a what I think they'll do, not what I'd do.

QB (2): Jackson, Huntley
RB (5): Dobbins, Edwards, Hill, Mitchell, Ricard (FB)
WR (6): Beckham, Flowers, Bateman, Agholor, Duvernay, Wallace
TE (3): Andrews, Likely, Kolar
OL (9): Stanley, Simpson, Linderbaum, Zeitler, Moses, Mekari, Faalele, Aumavae-Laulu, Mustipher
DL (4): Madubuike, Pierce, Washington, Jones, Urban*
OLB (5): Oweh, Ojabo, Clowney, Bowser, Robinson
ILB (5): Smith, Queen, Harrison, Phillips, Simpson
CB (8): Humphrey, Ya-Sin, Darby, Stephens, Washington, Seymour, Armour-Davis, Williams*
S (3): Williams, Hamilton, Stone
ST (3): Tucker, Stout, Ott

Just missed: QB Johnson, OL Cleveland, DL Blackson, OLB Moon, CB Maulet, CB Kelly, S Worley

Notably here, Pepe and Urban swap yet again. I have Worley off but think he'll go the PS elevation route and delay that 53 man decision for 3 weeks. In the event Bowser is not ready, I'd swap Worley on the 53 there.

Ideal young PS guys: WR Black, WR Ryan, TE Vokolek, OL Manning, DL Nichols, OLB Hamm, OLB Moon, ILB Ross, CB Kelly, S Lucien

I think you'll also look to keep a few of the vets from the just missed category if they're amenable to being on the PS.

If there is one surprise guy that I think could make the roster, it's Jeremiah Moon. He's been the only one seemingly doing the SLB role and doing it decently well. If Bowser isn't ready, I think they'd consider keeping him around. But I have him just off. Probably my guy 54-55 pending Worley.
With the new QB rule i believe JJ would make the team, just doesn’t count against the active roster?? Not totally sure how that rule works or if he would be considered practice squad but active on game days with no penalty

You get 49 active guys on game days if your 3rd QB is on the 53 man roster, but only in an emergency of course. So they'd be forced to burn a 53 man spot on him if they wanted to take advantage of the rule.

My personal opinion is that they'd probably like to, but don't have the room immediately. Think they'll try to take advantage when/if roster spots open up.

It is far far far too soon to grade the draft class, but as of today, it looks like Flowers is the only one with a decent chance at contributing on off/def *this year*. Too bad since the roster lacks depth this year
we were missing a 2nd. I'd pretty much count our 2nd as roquan smith.

I like what I've seen in sala but he needs time

has to be on the active roster, but not the game day roster

Is Josh Johnson better than Huntley ?
Huntley’s only advantage is familiarity with the organization, doesn’t make sense in this offense IMO. His weakness has always been driving the ball down field.

Johnson is a better passer but Huntley just gives you more with his ability to make plays in the pocket with this legs and the guy obviously has helped a team win games more than Johnson has. Before the injury it seemed like Huntley was having the better training camp and even in the Ravens first preseason game Huntley looked better than Johnson.

why would we be cutting Sala? dude's a 6th round pick with great traits who's already taken 1st team reps in his rookie offseason
he's not going anywhere

Kyu Kelly can definitely be dropped - has looked like nothing special and has been outperformed by basically everyone else on the depth chart at his position
On this rossi I'm going by what I've seen on the field and he's simply looked terrible to me. Too much pressure given up. He's a 6th rd pick so I don't see why he can't be added to the PS. I really don't see anybody snapping him up to put him on their 53. I also wouldn't put too much creedence in running with the 1's. Remember Tyre. Ran with the 1's quite a lot.

Glad you agree about Kelly and I would add Seymour to the list of DB's I put up earlier for a total of 11 which would require us to carry either 2 QB's or 8 OL.

Don’t let recency bias get you though. Last night was certainly a rough game, and while there were rough snaps in weeks 1 and 2, there were also some really good snaps too. OL is hard to find around the league. He needs work but not a chance I’d risk losing him.

Yeah but then you could be creating a weakness. Who's coming in to replace Zeitler if he goes down? We're not keeping no more than 9 tops and right now I would keep Mustipher and Cleveland over Sala. I just don't see GM's banging down his door to sign him. A lot of 6th rdrs go on PS. Happens everywhere and he would be the 1st callup in case of injury. I'm not worried about losing him. I always think we over react when it comes to our talent. You know how many times I heard "OH he's going to get away". Next thing you know on our PS.

I would be floored if they cut a guy that was in the starting competition after a couple of so-so games and one rough game, while they full well knew he was going to need some work.
