The Pass Rush

the stupid thing about the video is they illustrate 2 completely different situations and equate them - all the "correct" and "legal" sacks come in from edge rush type angles whereas most of the "illegal" sacks/hits come in from straighter or more interior angles which naturally means that their weight is going to be more front on - none of the "legal" hits dealt with that same issue
The first one they illustrated didn’t even have the full body weight. It was a very bad example. If you haven’t commented in the link already, you should do so.

I love the return on Kindle, Brown and KC.
Linebackers if they're not drafted in the second round lmao.

I think it's way too early to deem Bowser a bust since he's flashed way more than Correa ever has but I've been saying for awhile he's more of a Joker than a true pass rusher. I honestly think part of the problem, aside from having too much depth, is that we don't know how to use the guy. We should be using him almost exclusively in coverage and if he blitzing it's not off of the edge. He's likely the best athlete on the team and could develop into a Telvin Smith style coverage LB for us(that should enable us to run a lot more 4-3 looks, especially with Kenny Young looking as good as he does) who can put his hand in the dirt.

I'm not mad at Wink either. He's pretty new to this DC thing as a whole and well.. We also have an absurd amount of depth at edge rusher.

Part of me likes the hybrid defense we run, and then the other part of me wants us to run a 4-3 primary look with heavy rotation.

Nail on the head. Bowser needs to be the OLB opposite of the rush, used primarily to zone drop and a fairly heavy dose of blitz, and when lined up on the edge, mix it up too, rush him and drop him fairly equally when he’s lined up at the rush spot, that shit is the epitome of the “organized chaos” style of defense, he’s built for it, yet we’re using him exclusively as an edge rusher, and idk where the coaches got the idea to do that. He was lethal dropping between the hash and flats in college, very natural feel for cutting off throwing lanes and extremely light on his feet and agile, we all said it, he was not a full time pass rusher but a weapon when used as a chess piece like a Jamie Collins, yet here we are again pigeonholing him.

If bowser played for a mike zimmer or dan Quinn, he would be trending upward big time by now.

Now I’ll say this, rookie year he looked much better rushing the passer than I expected, he looked way bigger and stronger than he did in college and he used his freakishly long arms well, but he seems to have lost that oddly. I think he’s thinking too much in a new defense, or his injury from preseason is lingering, can’t think of any other reason for this sophomore slump.

That's true. He needs to be OLB in a full time 43 front.

I think his pass rush potential is certainly enough to make him a 34 OLB, but he can’t be used exclusively like a pass rusher, I honestly really like him as a 34 guy, because when I think of 34 I think of zone blitz and multiple looks, which he is perfect for.

Zrebiec:

Ravens DT Willie Henry out on field working out with DL coach Joe Cullen. Henry will miss his fourth game today after having hernia surgery late in preseason. However, that he's working out bodes well for him returning to practice this week.

just seeing this and it's huge

I really like where Tim Williams is playing right now. He’s bending the edge well and showing that explosive first step we saw in college but is also now starting to set the edge well. You can see the evolution and if I recall correctly those same attributes were what we saw with Suggs early. Only difference is Suggs was way younger coming out with a bigger ceiling and higher floor

they're also stylistically different kinds of players - tim williams wins with flexibility and speed

Is Judon playing hurt? his game has been way off. He should be behind Bowser and Timmy.

I don't think I've seen anything good out of Judon all season. Only times I notice him are when he's getting called for dumb fuck penalties. He started slow last year as well so I guess there's some small sliver of hope that he'll get it going, but I have not been impressed thus far.
