Lamar Jackson

@Simba Your guy may be able to shed more light on this, but I thought this was an interesting find coming out of that contract collusion case. Seems Lamar is being more difficult than he needs to be, I mean Linderbaum would still be here if he signed an extension last year or maybe a restructured deal like this year may have been able to help.

The initial ruling in the collusion grievance filed by the NFL Players Association on behalf of Lamar Jackson, Russell Wilson, and Kyler Murray shed new light on the negotiations between Jackson and the Ravens that preceded his five-year deal in 2023. The appeal ruling adds a key fresh detail, too.

In two different portions of page 14 of the decision, the three-person panel writes that the Ravens twice offered three-year, fully-guaranteed contracts to Jackson.

Jackson declined both of them.

Why is it only on lamar though? I understand that its a norm for qbs but why arent other players responsible? We offered tyler a contract and he didnt accept so idk how thats on lamar.

I know absolutely nothing Lamar. Never will. Even when I tried to talk about stuff I was hearing this offseason, it was wrong. Will never say a thing Lamar again because they have it as locked down as they possibly can.

They never formally made an offer to Linderbaum. Exchanged possible figures and agreed to table it until the offseason because they didn't feel they had room for another bigger contract at the time.

Oh. I thought it was interesting he turned down multiple contract offers that were fully guaranteed. Like, I get it the NFLPA feels there is collusion with QB contracts but if players are turning down offers, is it really collusion?

I couldve sworn edc said they trying to make him highest paid

It was only 3yrs the article said.. maybe be wanted longer than 3? Idk

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought you said they wanted to pay him last year but ultimately chose to pay Hamilton?
Yep. They were hoping to do both but got literally nothing accomplished with Lamar and only felt comfortable doing 1 of those bigger deals at the time. Both the Ravens and Linderbaum’s camp were aligned and thought something would get done. Just didn’t expect literally every other OL option to shit the bed and prop Linderbaum as much as it did, but good for him and his camp. Took advantage of the market that was unexpectedly available.

I feel like even Lamar’s biggest supporters, such as myself, should be able to agree he’s been an absolute pain in the asshole about his contract
ive never thought about it. never thought about him being difficult tbh. Its a lot of money and lots of factors.. now if he wasnt deserving of it, thats different

If anything, Ravens would want a longer deal for the ability to manage big cap hits better. Player would definitely want a shorter one - money earned faster and the contract is all but guaranteed.
I wonder if that 3yr 133 fully guaranteed contract was real back when someone tweeted it out
