The Offensive Line Thread

Lol, wonder if he has soft hands. If he does, I expect to see him catch a ball this year. Mornhinweg would be the guy to design it...

i just saw a tweet from filmstudy about ronnie stanley lining up as a standing receiver (albeit still ineligible) - so maybe it is on the cards
maybe howard has as soft hands as his personality

With all the elite or near elite talk about Stanley it seems that we overlook his struggles against speed rushers, Im not jumping to conclusions but its a mixed bag so far.

Jensen has also been hit and miss in recent games.

i dont know what to make of his game vs the vikings - on the one hand he got beat twice that i can remember for sacks (not sure if thats accurate recall or not) but i remember on at least one of them he pushed griffen beyond the pocket and round where flacco should have been but flacco moved right to get out of the pocket and ran right into griffen's path for the sack fumble

Stanley gets the 3rd most help in the league out of every single tackle

howard's also on that list

essentially its showing me that we arent sending many tight ends on routes or we're trying a lot of chips as receivers go into their routes (because we've only had a 6th lineman in this year maybe a handful of times at most

that kind of works out with what ive seen of this offence because we've been sending at times only 2 or even 1 receivers on routes vs stacked coverage

id be very interested in the specific breakdown of what specific kind of help as a percentage (but of course thats a feature broken down just for the teams)

Yeah that one wasnt on him, the metric sites say he gave up like 3 pressures and a sack which isnt bad

which obviously isnt ideal but i wouldnt say thats an awful outing vs everson griffen who's averaging more than a sack a game this season

Griffen is on pace for about 20 sacks right now; dude is a monster. Stanley had a bad game, but if it's anything like his first game against James Harrison then he'll learn from it and get better.

Sad to see everyone ignore this thread for 10 days after how great they have been playing. I think we surely have one of the top 10 lines in the leagues, and if you switch Skura out for Yanda top 5. On 54 dropbacks, Flacco was only pressured SEVEN TIMES!!!! How about that! With this chemistry, the line continues to improve. Our tackles are deadly, our center a beast, Skura being unnoticed (Great thing) and Hurst continuing to excel. Even when we moved Hurst to LT for a few plays, the first one was our best run of the game. I love what I see from this line.

Our O line is playing better than expected but don't let this last game fool you - Titans are very bad rushing the passer and putting any kind of pressure on QB.

and they still got at least 2 sacks that i can remember...
it's nice though that the oline has now stacked 3 great games in the last 5 - raiders, dolphins, titans

Line's playing pretty good, and I'm just dropping by to say I told you so.
First of all, nice to see you back. Second, this is what frustrates me even more about this offense because, collectively, we don't have the least amount of talent.

*throws hands in air*

Fix the system fix the offense. When a line is playing this good and the offense is bad, only two things can be wrong: the QB, the OC, or both.

dont forget the rbs are playing well - especially the fact that both the line and the rbs are playing well despite being depleted

A lot of times a bad oline can be masked with an a mobile qb and we obviously don’t have that. The running game is doing well also. It just shows you don’t need a star running back to succeed, although Collins could very well make himself into a household name.
