The Offensive Line Thread

Skura was good this game. I give credit where it's due, and FWIW, it's a really good Broncos front. Same with Hurst, he held Miller in check for the most part.

I hope that Skura can just stay more consistent, let's not forget that Jensen wasn't always perfect, of course he didn't have Yanda next to him either but he did have some awful games on occasion, I'm going to just give Skura his props because he played very well.

I'm not big on Alex Lewis, we can't run that well at all through the left side and he's a big reason why.

Skura is awful against power rushers, he can handle anything else just fine and pretty well in fact its just if you use power to just shove him he will fold EVERY bloody time.

He just simply hasn’t done better than hurst, sorry but that’s just bullshit. Hurst has played back to back good games and didn’t play bad week 1 either. Skura had one of the worst games ever last week and has not had 2 “good games” he had 2 serviceable games. Even if you think Skura has been good he absolutely hasn’t been better than hurst.

Hurst was victimised by Buffalo and did ok vs the Bengals and i wasnt able to fully evaluate but neither he nor skura were really noticeable to me in this game

basically skura and hurst have both had 1 awful game for Hurst it was vs Buffalo and for Skura it was vs the Bengals

id love hurst to be moved back to guard - he basically played LG on Collins td run (it was an unbalanced line where he slotted in between stanley and lewis)

Hurst has surprised me. Idk what it is about von Miller but he just doesn’t show up vs the ravens, heard on 105.7 that miller has never had a sack vs the ravens. That’s shocking.

As well as hurst has played, for the most part, we can still get better, mostly because hurst is Just not a tackle, Alex Lewis is a liability, and we have a direct upgrade to both spots. I was crucified for saying that hurst would be the starter at RT, but I knew Harbaugh just couldn’t resist, and it’s fucking unfortunate. Orlando brown may be our best OL after yanda, and James hurst I still believe is a quality guard, I still can’t fucking fathom how the coaches think this is our best lineup.. Stanley, hurst, Skura, yanda, Brown is a very solid line, the lineup we have now is questionable at best and completely game wrecking at worst.

before week 1 the coaches said Orlando Brown was ready to start soon - you've gotta think that if anyone struggles much more that Orlando will be coming into the lineup - there are other teams who have already benched tackles in week 3 for guys who have looked awful - the only evidence we have of Brown so far is him being solid and dependable - i can understand not starting him against von miller given athleticism is his weakest attribute but are we scared of Bud Dupree?

Well James hurst isn’t much of an athlete either. Bud Dupree does have a speed rush, he’s no von miller obviously, and he’s a pretty shit player in general, but he can bring some heat off the edge.

We can roll with hurst who is a poor athlete with heavy feet and built like a guard, or brown who is a poor athlete but with quicker feet than hurst and built like a prototype OT with a massive anchoring body and giraffe necks for arms.

Skura had his best game but I would call it an anomaly, his lack of power hurts us especially the run game. Lewis gave up a ton of pressure. Stanley had a bad start but bounced back. I'm still shocked at how well Hurst played.
Lewis was on both running and passing plays. He’s been our worst linemen so far this season. Hopefully he’s just rusty, but I’d rather have Hurst playing LG AND that says a lot.

Brown needs to get on the fucking field. Move Hurst to LG and I think he might actually be an improvement over Lewis. An O-line of Stanley, Hurst, Skura, Yanda, and Brown could turn into something pretty solid (Skura is the weak link, but not sure who could replace him at C).

I really hope we bench Lewis and put Hurst at LG and Brown at RT. That should help our rushing offense emensly especially running to the right with Hurst as a pull gaurd which is his biggest strength

not only that but running right is already our strength but this would reinforce marshal yanda as the point of attack which is always going to be a good idea with Hurst pulling across the fit for any run right inside the tackles is really nice

I can't see the coaching staff changing anything unless we go on a streak of 2 losses. They arent the type to make changes to the O line unless the team is in a funk ( record wise)
