The new update doesn't allow for a black background. Anyway we can do that? I didn't see it in preferences.

Also wanted to know if the grey font could be a little darker.

No dark mode currently, I will be introducing new Light/Dark themes shortly.
Are you referring to the gray in the navigation bar?
