Still same 7pm to 7pm FA periods with the Final 5. However if a team wants to bid on a player with final 5 rights, they need to say who they are bidding. Best way to do this would be to quote that player and send the bid on no later than 12 hours later or 7:am EST.Looks like we're a go on implementing the change to the allotted time for bid-offs. They are being given a trial run for the foreseeable future at 12 hours each. Do keep in mind that your remaining cap number will be frozen at 7:30 PM.
I still blame Harbaugh.Of course it did. I'd rather blame them or Garrett Downing and Ryan Mink. It's more fun to blame them.
Exactly. And then you have somebody else quoting that bid, rendering theirs invalid. There's also a high chance that while you found the highest bid, are quoting it and upping it, somebody beats you to the punch by mere moments and renders yours invalid. I've seen double digits invalid bids on one player the first year of FA. It would be bizarre to remove the solution to this issue in order to address a far less common one, something that I can attest to given that I handled bid-offs last year.
The quote would be for notification purposes only in the final period. Could you not just make it not be invalidated, that way people could be notified appropriately? That would eliminate the issue.
Without you having a chance? That is literally the entire basis for the FF rule's existence. You are covered via notifications prior to 6:55. With the rule in place, given that you were the highest bidder prior to the FF, you were additionally covered for the remainder of the bidding period by being able to request an additional bidding period should you have been outbid without a notification. Without this rule in place, the highest bid wins and there are no additional periods. It's sudden death. Meaning I would have won uncontested. You were afforded the opportunity and you weren't online. You've raised your concern with the allotted time, which was more than fair. I personally brought up the concern to the council, stated that it should be handled right away and voted for your idea immediately. You yourself are a returning participant. Yet you somehow insinuate that if the rule doesn't change, it's because of my supposed ulterior motives, which is blasphemy. Your ignorance is not an excuse. I don't know where you've been during the eight FA periods last year when most teams were submitting their bids within the last five minutes. That's how a deadline bidding process works.
Your concept of bidding on players within the last hour only with prior bids does nothing to prevent the final flurries with no notifications. Within the aforementioned concept, members would simply bid a minimum amount prior to 6:00 PM in order to qualify to continue bidding, and their flurries would still be just as present in the waning minutes. The only upside would be that it would provide a better scope of the potential members involved. It's nullified by the major downside of having significantly more teams who don't exercise their challenge rights because they can no longer afford their target. The main reason that the challenging rights are as close as they are to the deadline is because we want more teams to challenge for FAs. If I have my right on Player X at 6:00, he's suddenly bid on to an amount I can't match, then every single one of the remaining teams whom are going to bid for Player X are now bidding in sudden death mode. It's a solution that helps one team and hurts all of the remaining competitors. I've already explained the quoting in significant detail. Restating the same statement time and time again doesn't count as a counterpoint.
Unless I am missing something here, aren't we notified any time somebody makes a post in a thread we've posted in? So making the quote unnecessary anyways?
How does it compare with the cap you guys have?

Teams have been notified the NFL salary cap has been set at $177.2 million, sources say.
No adjustmentsi was just about to ask the same question - do we need to adjust our starting caps down by 1 star or are we sticking to our alternate universe salary cap number?
Ah so the powers that be in setting the cap were nice this yeari was just about to ask the same question - do we need to adjust our starting caps down by 1 star or are we sticking to our alternate universe salary cap number?
Saves time.No beating around the bush with the Cousins bids I see
looks like we did pretty well estimating that. How does it compare with the cap you guys have?

this is correctOnly if you turn that on, and it would notify you of every single post. It would be impossible to sort through. Tags come through separately, at least in my email.
More than fair on the former. The comment regarding ignorance may have been somewhat harsh. The frustration came from me taking offense that your complaints towards me begun with not only calling me a cheater, but also implying that if the rule isn't changed, it would be because of me pushing my own agenda instead of focusing on bettering the process. It honestly caught me off guard since my very first reply begun with, "There are solid points above about the bid-off process, especially concerning the bid-off deadline of 15 minutes." I then personally initiated the talks among the council for a proper solution, urging for the matter to be resolved in time for the current FA period, and specifically championed your idea of expanding on the bid-off time, which exclusively expands power for those bidding prior to the FF and is detrimental to those bidding solely afterwards. Honestly, I don't know that I could've been more receptive and conducive to the concepts I personally felt had valid arguments. No rush obviously, but I do very much look forward to the conversation. I feel like being able to give instant feedback in the moment instead of just trading our entire views back and forth would allow for both us to have a clearer image of each other's perspective, which could very well change our own for the better. We will have to agree to disagree.
I do take exception to the ignorance comment. I had no issues last year and was even involved in a couple bid-offs because I was notified of them. If I wasn't notified I wouldn't have been there. For someone who has never encountered any issues with it prior to it happening for this first time to them, of course they are going to take exception that first time and call it out. I insinuate that it is taking advantage because of how much of an advantage it gives those who are able to be present at that very specific time period, and it would be very easy to fix. You seemed unwilling to change the process, and even admitted taking full advantage of the current rule. There are better ways to handle the bidding process, even in a forum setting. Having any kind of hard deadline with last minute bids allowed and only 15 minutes to respond was broken and giving advantages to certain players due to their constant presence. Thank you for at least expanding that timing part of the process.
We will talk later.
Definitely helps ward off any non-serious bidders too. Kudos.Saves time.
