I felt the same way but after going back and forth with Truth it really is easy. All you need to do is enter your active contracts, dead money and rollover cap. That info is on your teams spotrac. Also enter your draft picks and you're done for now. Truth was definitely helpful and if still confused I'd say get in contact with him

Rosters Locked 24 hours after the final pick, which is 9am this morning.
Any Changes at this point to the rosters, don't affect the teams we are managing. Please make sure those numbers are up in the State of the Franchise shared google doc and do a print screen of your team, active contracts, rollover cap, and dead cap.

Also guys, enter the correct number of contracted players in the field below the totals - that will sort you out with salary cap for top 51 contracts. Update this number and date of last change as you start adding and cutting players.
Enter your active contracts, dead cap, and rollover cap.
Then subtract total starting cap from 2018 FM Salary Cap (178,000,000)
Vikings Active Contracts (52 total) Amount is $142,170,897
Dead Cap: $656,445
Rollover Cap: $18,056,730
Today Jerrell Freeman and Martin were cut from their prospective teams, but after the roster lock. The teams that have the Bucs and Bears would still include these players on their respective teams.

Stupid, vague and confusing is a bit much. We literally copy three numbers straight from Spotrac to find out our total starting cap. Then it's subtracted from the salary cap to find our cap space. Minus filling out the draft and updating the roster total, that's everything that needs to be done on the SoF to this point.
That is a simple explanation but I see a giant wall of data and was like "huh what I do with this". I will say though thank you Truth and Mania for helping me out.
If you saw how it used to be done... that spreadsheet was a godsend last year. As long as you have the starting numbers right and keep it updated, it’ll be a breeze. I can definitely see how it could be confusing for a first timer though.
