The Movie Thread

I've been wanting to see Molly's Game ever since I saw "written by Aaron Sorkin" in the previews

i thought it was fairly good and jessica chastain is brilliant - problem is that its not just written by aaron sorkin... it's also directed by aaron sorkin...

im gonna go and see black panther anyway but ill have to admit the trailers and tv spots arent getting my as hyped for the movie as i seem to see everyone else getting online...

like everything i see in the trailer looks like stuff ive seen before narratively and tonally etc. but im gonna go see and find out

the 3 things that have me most hyped about the movie are ryan coogler directing, kendrick lamar curating the soundtrack and andy serkis having a fairly expanded role
you know what - make it 4 coz im actually pumped for the design of this one - Wakanda might be fucking sik to see on screen

Each and every time I see a Black Panther trailer/TV spot, I get even more excited about it. That and Avengers are looking so good right now.

huh that's interesting... its not like the marketing material looks bad or anything but there's nothing visually/narratively/tonally in the material that makes me hyped for it

Mind you, I don't read the comics, but I was just impressed with him in Captain America.

Ehh, just different strokes for different folks? Can't wait for it.

yeah im hoping it comes out like spiderman homecoming - trailers didnt get me going but i really liked the film as a whole
Never cared for Spiderman as a character so I didn't see it. Don't really care for this version of Spiderman either, but that's just me.

Tom Holland was one of the few strengths of Civil War and whilst I felt that Homecoming was a VERY overrated movie, he's still great.

Black Panther is something I am stoked for though. He's literally the perfect casting choice and it is a damn good cast. Hopefully we can get a Marvel movie that's got some stakes.

My biggest problem with civil war / infinite war is that they are trying to force wayyy to much action down the audience's throats; that it ends up taking away from the actual story. Most people pick one side with Marvel and DC, but I'm weird about that. I'm not really a fan of Superman, yet I love Batman movies. I loved Cap America, but I've never loved Ironman. I can't wait for Black Panther that's going to be incredible.

How about that Obi Won movie coming? Ewan Mcgregor is down, and I know he was young when the 1-3 were filmed but holy shit I didn't know he still looked this good.

its still unconfirmed and whether it ever gets confirmed and put into production almost certainly they are waiting on the outcome of SOLO...
kathleen kennedy had an announcement that she said she would announce last summer but still hasnt announced and i think its because the bad publicity all the production changes in Solo got... if Solo is a hit (good movie rather than financially successful) then i think very soon afterwards you'll hear about the obiwan movie being confirmed

Re-watched Blade Runner 2049 on Blu-Ray because it came out on Blu-Ray today and I couldn't wait any more.

It's even better the second time

And the third

it's a stunning picture - im so glad i got to see it on a superscreen with proper dolby sound

Yup. I have a projector and surround sound so it's not quite a movie theater but it's about as close as it gets without blasting me out of my seat

Cool set up - it’s one of those films where the bigger and louder you can make it the better (although I haven’t seen it on a small screen yet)
